I stopped shopping at F21 because of that. It wasn't always that way (that you could only exchange or get store credit), and I was pissed off the first time I found out that the policy changed after trying to return something. And then it changed from a month time period to 21 days because that just seemed like a cute thing to do since it matched the store name, supposedly. What the heck?
In any case, it is very important to me to be able to return something. I obviously will exchange if I have to, though. I won't stay stuck with a bad product.

That's the same reason I stopped shopping at forever 21 a long time ago. It was 7 years ago and I was still in high school. I bought a jacket in a rush. After I walked out of the store, upon closer inspection, I realized the jacket was really terribly made. There was a lot of lose thread everywhere.
I went back and tried to return it. They told me I could only get store credit (which was news to me). So I took the jacket, and told them I will never shop there again. I was true to my words
I never walked into that store again.
Anyways, I love Nordstrom. I love their forever return policy. Doesn't matter if you have tag/receipt or if things have been used or worn. Surprisingly I think after years of shopping with them, I've only returned things to Nordstrom maybe 3 times.
