I know some people feel strongly for one or the other, but what is your reason? Why do you think one is better than the other?

I have pretty much always used Ipods. I had a regular MP3 player before, but it barely held anything, wasn't rechargeable, and was very simplistic. I like my ipod, I have a great holder for it and they typically last me many years before needing to be replaced, and usually only because the battery loses charge somewhat.

Only thing is itunes can get pricey, and they don't always have the music I'm looking for, so i either still have to buy CDs or torrent the music as a last resort.

I just recently bought my first iPod. I love it cause I can use it for the net as well as a stack of music.

Mp3 player all the way. Except for my girlfriend's new 6th gen iPod touch for the wi-fi, I have no interest in most Apple products.

mp3!! I've always had one, until I got an ipod a few Christmases ago. I loved it; it was orange and my new best friend.

Too bad the wheel and button don't work. Don't understand why. One day the wheel just decided to not respond to my touch. I hadn't even had it a year.

I've never owned any non-Apple MP3 players. My first iPod was a free iPod Shuffle (an early model) and then my second was a free iPod Nano. My girlfriend uses an iPod Touch that I also got for free.. I guess I've never actually had to buy an iPod. I paid for part of the cost of my iPhone, but my employer paid for 2/3 of it.

I love my iPods. I've used a few others, but I really prefer the ones from Apple.

I really like the MP3 players by Sansa. We have iPods and other MP3 players, but the Sansa player is just simple and no-nonsense. Long battery life, practical etc. My son's iPod seems to need charging almost daily, and it's only 6 months old... so, meh.

I've had various MP3 players but iPods always win.

I prefer iPods. I like the style and prefer the organization.

I really enjoy the quality of iPods and the simplicity of it. At the same time I really wish you there was an option of whether you sync or not. I wish you could put music on manually. I think that is its biggest downfall right now.

I love my ipod, but I can't update it anymore so I switched to my mp3 player. Our computer crashed, and somehow ended up resetting itself to the original settings (in 2004) Itunes was there, but no songs, I had them backed up but they were gone. So I had all my music and movies on my Ipod, but they wouldn't transfer to itunes when I plugged it in. Since I have an older Ipod, Apple wanted me to pay $30 for them to fix it, but they wouldn't guarantee that it would work. There is a lot more important things I can do with $30 so I just use a different MP3 player now to listen to anything new. I do love my ipod though.

I have a ZEN. It was less then 1/2 of an IPOD with the same storage space. And I use it at work, so if I drop it and break it, I will not be as pissed as if I would have spend double. Also my brother has a IPOD, and it died after 1 year. Mine is going on 3 years, and still works like the day I pulled it out of the package.

I've wanted to get just a regular MP3 player purely because they're cheaper and a lot of them work a lot better than the iPod. But accessories are a lot easier to find for an iPod, and I don't listen to it much unless I'm driving and then I use the cord that my husband installed into my radio for me. Plays right through the speakers and charges when I want it to. Might not be the best option out there, but it works for me.

I've got an iPod Classic I bought 3 1/2 years ago and it's still going strong, I've never had a problem out of it. I really like it, it's sturdy, I've even dropped it a couple of times and it's fine! From what I recall from researching is that the Classics are sturdy, Nanos are kinda crappy. I don't quite understand the point of the Shuffles, they're tiny in both size and capacity. I did a lot of research before settling on the iPod, I really didn't want to buy an Apple product but it was what I was looking for. I'm happy with it.

I avoid Apple products whenever possible. I use the music player (MP3) on my Android phone - and love it.

Apple may be shiny, but Archos and Creative are awesome!

The closest thing I have ever had to an ipod was my Motorolla Rocker with iTunes in it.

Otherwise I have owned 1 MP3 player and that was a while back. I always just load music onto the MP3 player of my cell.

I don't use either. I pretty much listen to all my music on the computer using Youtube or using sites like Grooveshark.

I've always been an iPod kind of gal. I love the kind of sleekness that my iPods have (my first one and then my mom's old one that she didn't want anymore). I still use my first one, which has lasted almost 6 years of my electronic abuse (I drop it constantly) and its only now starting to die (buttons aren't working) but that's still amazing to me. My sisters mp3 player only lasted a few months before giving out, and my parents spent a little bit of money on that.

I don't have a preference. I think iPods tend to be overpriced for what it is- there are mp3 players out there that cost much less money and have the same capabilities. I like both, but I've only ever owned mp3 players.
