Of course we all have, but I'm talking about a really long time, and there's just nothing that could take your mind off of wanting to go to the bathroom.
May be gross but I thought of it because my aunt had a dog that she trained to not use the bathroom in the house, we didn't come home when we were supposed to because of a car accident and the hours of traffic to get back home. Anyways she held in her pee for hours, I mean 4 whole hours, then as soon as she was released she peed for almost a whole minute straight! She's tough, I couldn't have held it in that long, so what do you do?

I'm pretty good about holding it for a while, but I know if I hold it too long, I have issues with UTIs. I try to distract myself, I'll kind of hum, tap my feet a little, etc.

I'm stuck between "tell everyone" and "tough it out." I guess it depends on the people who are present! UTIs are tough though, so if it got to a ridiculous point I may just ask for a cup...

I can tough it out for a long time, but I hate having to do it. I don't think I'd ever announce that I needed to go to the bathroom, unless it was to explain why I'm excusing myself, or to get the driver to pull into a rest area or whatever.

You forgot 'Other'. But medically speaking, a bladder infection could occur.

Aw. What a good dog! Our cats will hold it too, but we let them out regularly.


I have held it for days. It is nothing short of miserable. I hate when I have to go soooo bad that it hurts to move. I think the longest I held it was 2 days. 2 days of hell! Lol.

Last week I was at a dr. visit & drank a load of water before going because they always want your pee & I can't pee on command unless I've drank so much that I HAVE to, so I do that & of course they make me wait in pain for 45 minutes! I eventually had to stand up because sitting down felt like hell on my bladder. I was about to run for the door when the nurse came for me. She said "do you think you could go to the bathroom for me?" I said "absolutely!" LOL.

I have the ability to hold it for a very long time as it is, so I just tough it out unless it is really bad. Then I bitch about it until I can go.

I don't often have this problem - but once I was on a small plane going to northern Canada - and it didn't have a restroom. It got so bad I ended up urinating into a soda can!

When I was in high school, we went to visit family and took the dog with us. The dog was trained to only use the bathroom in our backyard, so even when she went for walks, she wouldn't go. While we were away, she held her urine for 2 days straight. The poor thing just would not go, even though she was clearly in pain. Having experience in a vet's office, I knew how to squeeze the bladder to gently release the urine. However, if anyone tried to get near her, she bit (which she never ever did). She finally hid behind the vegetable garden and went. We loaded her up with praise and treats afterwards.

It's so difficult to hold in pee.. When I wake up in the middle of the nap having the urge to pee, I hold it in and fall back to sleep.. When it comes to a long car ride, I'll wiggle around and whine the whole time.

I always have to pee at the worst moments, for example when I am at the cinema. I used to try and hold it in, but now I just go to the bathroom i the middle of a movie.

Tough it out & tell no one! But one time, I had to go behind a dumpster downtown, at night, while coming back from a long trip. I could not possibly hold it another second, but I was on a diruretic at the time, so what can you do? The experience was so disgusting, I could never understand how some people I knew could go in the woods or wherever, but maybe the fact they had been drinking was the reason!
