The best exercise is the one you like doing and will actually WANT to do rather than seeing it as a burden or punishment that you have to do. If you like doing it you are much more likely to do it consistently and consistency is the key to any weight loss program.
For example I like to play tennis. When I was playing in a tennis league that wasn't very competitive I was able to lose weight without feeling like I was trying really hard at it. The key was that it was social, we had matches about 3 or 4 das a week, and most importantly it was FUN. I didn't burn as many calories as I would have if I had just spent that time running on the treadmill. however, I wouldn't have stuck with the running because I find it boring.
pick what you like and stik with it.

Losing weight is more about altering your lifestyle and diet than doing any one particular exercise. When we decided to start getting healthy the main thing we did was cut out pre-made foods and limit our portion sizes. You should check out the Eat Clean cook book and the new Weight watcher's cook book.
If you're looking to sculpt, I'd advise running or skipping.

My best form of exercise along with changing my diet was walking - until I got down to a certain weight.
But I also like the Wii for exercise.

High Intensity Interval training- running full out on a treadmill for a minute then walking for two, repeat for 30 minutes with 5 minutes warm up and cool down. You could do the same on a bike or rollerblades. It really gets the heart pumping and burning fat. Anything is better than nothing though so find something you like and stick with it.

walking. cardio is 1 of the best things you can do to lose weight. walking is the easiest & works everything. i lost 41 lbs last yr & it was from walking & the elliptical for an hr 5 days a week, & eating better & smaller portions. you need to do a minimum of 45 to 60 minutes to lose weight a minimum of 5 days a week. you need at least 1 day of rest so your muscles have time to recoup. the 1st 2 weeks will be the hardest, but after that it's a lot easier to keep up w/.

Definitely agree with Taylor. It has to be something you enjoy at least a little bit. Something you can do with a partner or small group helps as well. Psychologically we tend to stick to workouts more when we feel that if we skip we are letting someone else down.
Walking with a friend is a great way to start.

I have nothing really to add about specific exercises, but losing weight really should be part of a healthy lifestyle. There is an EF club, Eden Lives Healthy that has this specifically in mind and might be something to check out if you want to learn more and have some camaraderie with others who share your desire to lose weight and live healthier.

Cardio is what burns calories and, in turn fat. you need to raise your heart rate and keep it there to burn.
On top of cardio, portion control and calorie intake are what will help you in the long run.

Cardio (with high intervals) and strength training (yes even women need strength training). The more lean muscle mass you have, the more your body burns at the RMR (Resting Metabolism Rate, which is you sitting doing nothing, just breathing and normal body functions), and the more it burns during exercise.

It really depends on what you like. When everyone says that, they mean it. Sure, you can run two miles for great cardio, but if you hate running, you aren't going to stick with that for long. Find something that you love, and see if there's a work-out built around it. I personally am not much for physical exercise at all, but we recently starting playing Dance Central (a video game), and it's really good for cardio as you are trying keep your body in time with the movements.

Walking is also good, but you should definitely do something you enjoy.

if you have a deep tub like a hot tub or a pool swimming type exercises are nice resistence and very low impact. i had gastric bypass and i have trouble with the walking and bikes so swimming works for my joints.

I agree! Pool excercise is my favorite. It is so enjoyable to me that it doesn't even feel like excercise! Wish I had a pool. Gym membership is very high. I like walking, but I live in a high crime area so it is not advisable for me.
