If you won say, 1 million dollars, after taxes, from the lottery, what would be most important for you to do/purchase?
If you won the lottery...

I would probably have my car fixed (or consider getting a decently priced new/used one, because my car is kind of falling apart), pay off my debts and continue to use the money to pay for graduate school and otherwise supplement my income. I would also donate to charity.

Buy a second house besides the things I have on the poll.
03/21/2012
Buy all the needed and the cool stuff to build up everything for O/our home in the desert, get more guns, ammo, storable food, materials for a giant dome greenhouse, buy that piece of land of course, get security system. All that prepping stuff to be completely self-sustaining.

oops, forget to check buy a home & buy something for family members. i'd also set up a graduate school fund for my gf.
03/21/2012
I'd do everything I've been missing out on because of lack of funds.
03/21/2012
I would want to pay my bills/debts immediately.
03/21/2012
I'd buy a house ($200K) and put aside enough for Medical School ($200K), maybe get some nice furniture for the house ($30K) and then I'd save the rest. The rest would go to my retirement (we could retire whenever we were sick of working!) and to whatever kids I have in order to send them to college.

Most important pay off my dent and help my mom out but i would do as much of that list as possible.

I would buy a house (tired of renting and worrying if I can afford to pay each month), buy a car (mine is due to retire), catch up bills that are behind, pay off debts (I have quite a few), I would set up college accounts for my 2 kids,
and I would tell my boss what I think and quit. I have been waiting to tell her off for 2 years now. she is such a B***ch

Pay off the debts, build my dream house, invest for the future, and help my parents out. Then find a way to give back.

I'd pay off his car, add to our house, help a few friends/family members in need, invest.
03/22/2012
Buy a house/car first
03/22/2012
I'd find a way to invest it and grow it, $1M really won't last that long if you just leave it in the bank and start spending.
03/22/2012
I'd buy a home here, one in my favorite vacation spot, a new car, and continue working and have my day to day expenses come out of what I earn. I love my job and I would miss it terribly if I left, even if I didn't need it anymore.

We already have ideas about the this. Hubby would come home from work, so he could "Knock" me up and then we would get working on some rushed passports for the entire family because we are all moving to Europe. Then work on becoming a citizen and all that junk. While we are there we would look into purchasing a few houses and all new cars. Then hubby would allow me to have my own adult toy business and then he wants a restaurant. Plus college found for the children.

If I suddenly had a million dollars (not considering any taxes) I would have a pretty simple priority list of how I would manage it:
1. Pay down the outstanding debt I have
2. Purchase a home
3. Save the rest.
I wouldn't quit working, though I'd be more willing to ease up on pushing myself at work since increasing my income wouldn't be as big of a deal.

First thing I'd do is buy a house.
03/22/2012
So many things! Top on my list: adopt a kid, buy a house (but not a crazy extravagant one), invest, and donate to charities.
03/22/2012
I would do a ton of stuff honestly.
03/22/2012
I would first donate some money to get a dependable food bank started in my area. Then I would get a new car (or at least new to me), and then put a down payment on mine and my husbands dream home. If I still had a good chunk of money left I would put some away for my son to go to college on, pay off some of my husbands college debt, and start college myself. Too bad I don't play the lotto. =( And even if I did.... my state doesn't even allow the scratch off tickets!!!

Pay off debts and then buy a new car. I bought a "new" used car 4 months ago. There's already something wrong with it. Maybe I'd even go to school to be a mechanic. lol.

I would invest the whole thing and then spend the income it generates. I wouldn't move, but I would pay off the morgage and remodel the master bath and do some nice landscaping and other improvement projects! I wouldn't quit my job right away, but I would tell my boss to start looking and would stay till a suitible replacement was found. And I would be happy to fill in as needed at work since I love my job and I love the people I work with!

Pay bills, travel, invest.
03/24/2012
I would go to the bunny ranch in nevada and fuck those chicks for a week straight!
04/19/2012
I would buy a new house, open my own business, do a little traveling and invest the rest. I don't really need a brand new car, and everything else in my life is pretty set.

It depends. I probably would pay for my studies or buy a home. But I need to move a lot for these studies (well, I'll be needing), but I need to feel safer in a new home to be able to study. Then after that, I'd like to open my own business, but I guess just buying a home and paying for studies would be enough to use up all the money.
I guess paying for school would be the most important, I'm already searching some additional ways to do that and put money aside.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I think I would save close to half of it, purchase a little cottage or townhouse, go on a trip abroad, then attempt to expand my buying-and-selling vintage hobby to an actual business...possibly a boutique where I can sell my crafts, too!
