...what kind of place do you take your mom out to, or do you "cook in" (and if so, does she do the cooking or do you? Be honest).
If you plan to take your mom out for Mothers day....where are you taking her?

We always take her out to wherever SHE wants to go and since we all agree on our favorite restaurant, it works out well. We had a noon reservation at a high end restaurant in town, close to all of our houses and it was a wonderful, as always. In the past, we usually took her to dinner, but since she's lost all but 3% of her vision, she does better in the daylight. And I have to say, it was nice to eat when we were all hungry (after sleeping in) and not at the end of the day when you're tired. She had a mimosa, so she started to fall asleep by the end, LOL! And what's really funny is we all went to our homes and took naps afterward, hahaha. We're all getting old, I guess

What did you do, Mrs. Bignuf? And happy Mother's Day to you!

I initially tried planning to take her out to this cute little diner for breakfast, then off to buy her some flowers...but that one never did pan out.
We wound up staying in, and I gave her the present I got her and made her some carrot cake whoopie pies with a cream cheese frosting filling as a special treat.
She did the cooking for dinner though, because she's the only one in the house that knows how to work the grill. But I suppose since it's usually the roomate/her ex-bf or I that do the cooking most other days, it's mildly excusable. xD

Thanks for the wishes. We actually got a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse gift certificate from my daughter on my Birthday, but hubby already had plans that day at a different restaurant we love, so we saved the certificate and used it on Mothers Day. It was wonderful!!!

I used that one for the cookies themselves, but I used a different one for the filling since I found a cream cheese frosting recipe she loves enough to want to eat by the bowl full.
Filling recipe
I use about three times the vanilla that frosting recipe calls for and about 2 ounces more cream cheese (to cut down on the sweetness, I may have a sweet tooth the size of the continental USA myself and was incubated on cotton candy, but her own sweet tooth has dulled down a lot over the years. xD ).
