My boyfriend brought up during our last argument that he is never going to win a fight with me because I have already fought with him through every possible angle in my head. I realized that he was right so I was just wondering if anyone else fights in their head with their significant other before initiating the real fight?
If you have a problem with your significant other, do you argue with them in your head before you confront them?

I don't think I do because I try not to fight but I have a partner that I feel does, it amazes me.

I argue it out in my head first. I have to, he's pretty clever and if I don't find all the loopholes and all of the angles he can manipulate then I get caught between a rock and a hard place.
That sounds really bad. It's not. It's just he's a really bright guy and I have to always be on my toes. Arguing with him is something I actually enjoy doing, most of the time. We've only had one or two really huge blow outs.

I always go through the argument in my head first. One, to make sure I don't say anything stupid or uncalled for and two, so I have a better chance of winning the argument

I don't do this, however, I think I should start! I often say stuff out loud that I shouldn't.

I tend to make lists of the things that I want to say and the points that need to be brought up in my head before going into an argument, but I don't actually argue with him in my head.

Thanks for all the great answers. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person that does this. I'll let him know that it's a common thing to do lol.

I completely agee with you. I argue with him in my head before hand for the same reasons. He really keeps me on my toes. I think a big part of it is that we both think in completely different ways.

Most of the time if were not fighting face to face I will, I'll tell him off in my head and decide what sounds best, I rarely get it all out. He doesn't know how to fight constructively because his mom was an alcoholic psycho and the only fights he ever got in were one's where his mom would scream at him, so he typically shuts down in fights.

Yep, I tend to think out what I want to say before the confrontation. It helps prevent me from doing quite as dumb, since I can catch myself if the problem was really with me
