Maybe you work & volunteer? But, if you didn't have to work, would you volunteer? What would you volunteer for?

If I didn't have to work & was not otherwise unable, I would volunteer for sure! I would do all sorts of things, such as delivering meals to the elderly or shut ins &/or visiting them so they get some social interaction. I would do just about anything to help animals. I would tutor anybody, children through adult in whatever I could including music. I'd even provide free babysitting to single mom's or other's that needed emergency help.
I recently read a comment in one of my discussions about a man who needed someone to watch his terminally ill wife while he worked & no one they knew would help, even for pay, they just kept saying, "not right now". He ended up having to hire strangers who turned out were stealing a dying woman's pain medication!!! I replied I would have watched her and I really would have! I would even do it for one of the neighbors I barely know! That seems like a wonderful way to volunteer, too, so I am adding it here.
There are lots of things I haven't even thought of, but I do know I would volunteer! There is always something you can find that you can help with & would want to do, it's just a matter of finding what that is.

I do work, but I also volunteer. I volunteer 1-2 mornings per week in the summer and 5 in the winter at the SAFE House. The reason for the varying days is due to my business getting slow in the winter...it picks up in the spring, summer and fall. I also work with the children in the Child Center (our local children's center for runaways, removal from parents, etc.). I started a program for them to come into the business once per week for an hour to make their own decals, signs or to learn skills for future jobs. If I did not work...I would probably add to my time at SAFE, work with the kids in an outdoor setting and learn how to do the grant writing for both agencies.

I'm not sure where I would volunteer, but yes, I would absolutely volunteer if my schedule allowed me more time.

I volunteer - but would love to do more. I use work as an excuse not to do more. I would love to volunteer more and being retired would give me time to do that - but that's a ways in the future.

How many people can do all you do & still have time to hang out here? Goodness, the more I learn about you, the more amazed I am that you can do all this after the accident! I'm tired just hearing all you do. I'm glad you still have tie to hang with us here! Good for you, all that volunteering must make you feel like you are making a difference!

Yes I would definitely volunteer. I use to volunteer before and I have looked into stuff in my area. I need to get at again soon.

I'd probably spend a lot more time at the local animal shelter if I was unemployed.
I also love doing random sweet things for people, like sending them gifts or making them things. I'd love to organize lots of sneaky, kind things for my friends and family. I've always wanted to convince an overworked and worn-out friend I need to spend the night, and then when they go to work the next morning, just scrub their house from top to bottom, make them dinner, and then leave before they get home. Not exactly volunteering, but it accomplishes the same goal - helping people who need help.

I would because i would get bored.

I have tons of hobbies, a kid, and could easily keep myself busy regardless of whether I was working or not. Still I can easily see myself volunteering (I've done it in the past), I think it's a great way to be involved in something and to help others out.

I'm at that stage of my life, in which I would like to feel I've made a difference. Rather than simply giving money to a charity, I would like to volunteer my time towards helping people. I do this now, but in very small ways. So, I am now thinking of doing something much larger in scale. I am considering investing my time towards improving the conditions of a third world community. At this time, my focus is on Africa. I envision building a well, supplying electricity, or possibly even teaching. Time will tell though.

If I didn't NEED to work to pay the bills and such I would do what I do for a living, pet grooming at animal shelters and sanctuaries and foster pet parents' homes. I love my job and the thought of providing my furry "clients" with all the bells and whistles without having to charge for every single thing makes me happy. Animals give so much, and ask us for nothing in return. It's such fun to treat them well and pamper them- and to help the ones who haven't had theexperiece of being the center of someone's attention and cared for in a while.
I would even find a way to give free grooming to pets whose families just can't afford regular grooming.

Actually, I don't know that I would. I say that because I've tried numerous times to find places to volunteer near my area & only found a couple places & once I read the requirements (which were not normal!!!) I gave up!

My partner and I volunteered when we had tornadoes here. We helped a local church cook, clean and give out food plates & then we helped stock a building for another church with donations -- clothes and stuff -- and organize them by size and stuff. That was nice & although I did have a bad experience with one girl who was very hateful to me, I would not let that stop me from volunteering again, anywhere they'll accept me. I do wish we had more opportunities in my area to do that.

I already volunteer at a sanctuary, and find it very enjoyable. It's actually what I like doing when I get stressed out with other things.

I would volunteer at the rape crisis hotline. I've been asked before, but as a single mom working two part-time jobs and going to school full-time...
