If someone creates a discussion using an unfamiliar term, what do you do?

Personally, if I come across a word or expression that I do not recognize in the forums, I Google the crap out of it. Well, provided I search through the rest of the thread and it isn't explained there already. I'm too impatient to post a reply asking what they mean and then wait for someone to notice and get back to me. How do you handle it? Do you do a search, ask in the thread or maybe just avoid posting altogether? Or something else entirely? Perhaps you've yet to come across something that you didn't understand - in which case you're welcome to reply with what you /think/ you would do.

I am with you--I either Google it or look it up in the dictionary. Luckily this does not happen too often for me since I really will not answer a post without making sure what it is I am answering first, lol!!! I tend to forget the post I was going to make then just have to go on.....hate that!

I definitely agree with you about not answering without knowing for sure! I mean, often I can guess what a term means from the context, but I always double check to make sure before I'll post a reply. Just in case.

I'll look it up online. If I honestly can't find anything, I'll ask for clarification.

I won't reply to the actual discussion until I know what it is really about though.

I'll look it up. no point in responding to a discussion unless I know what it's about.

I'll Google it first, or else I wouldn't know what the thread's talking about.

I'd do a search and not comment on something I don't know about.

Same thing I do any time I come across words I don't know...I type the word and "definition" into Google.
I've found a few of my now favorite words that way, actually. =)

One of my top five favorites that were learned in such a manner is "cordiform".
