well, I was laid off today. Not because of anything I had done. Unless you count doing a half asked job and kissing ass, something I did not or would not do. It sucks alittle knowing that I wont have a job to get up and go to on monday morning, but at the same time the company I was working for treated everyone poorly. I just hope that unemployment keeps up until I can find something else. On a positive note, I can now write more reviews, something I have not been able to do too much of lately.

That sucks that you got laid off, we both know how it feels. During the whole collapse in 2008, my wife was laid off for three months (her whole department completely gone). She lasted right up to the end of her severance package then got a job back at the same company, making the same amount pretty much. Fast forward a little over two months, and I was laid off. I wasn't as lucky, and spent the next year working crappy contract jobs for 50% the pay (I spent about six months total without work). It did work out in the end, as it gave me the chance to switch careers and do something I like more and have more opportunities to advance in.
Just look at it as an opportunity to better yourself and find a job you would rather have, or possibly switch careers if you have wanted to.

Sorry to hear that. It's good that you're seeing things in a positive light

Sorry, to hear that hope you find new employment quickly.

I talked with a friend from the last company I worked for, and he wants to hire me back. It seems they have gotten busy enough for another employee. So we will talk some more tomorow. I hope that it works out and I can get back to work soon. I hate being on unemployment.

That sucks! I was laid off when I worked at a factory job one summer. It felt depressing to be laid off at 19.

Now, I'm unemployed and paying for an internship. I'm thinking I too will be doing a lot more reviews. Sigh

As a fellow unemployee, you have my sympathies (or is it empathies? I could never remember which one). Hope you get back on your feet soon!

Sorry to hear that about your job...but honestly, once, long ago, someone told me "when one door closes, another three open, just make sure to watch for them". I thought this was silly and trite, but it turned out to be very true. Look at this as OPPORTUNITY. Okay, I love EF, and love to read and write posts, but why not look at this OPPORTUNITY as one not to write "more posts", but to go out and find the PERFECT job...one at a company that treats you WELL and where people are HAPPY? Yes, even in today's sucky economy, there ARE those jobs. Believe me, there are employers dying to find motivated, hard working and pleasant team members to add to their staff. You would think it was impossible to not have twenty folks applying for any job posted these days, but it is NOT always the case...really.

Go for it...start seeking that new employer who will realize they are LUCKY to have you and never look back at the unhappy place you had to put up with before.
Best wishes.

I know so many people out of work since the economy was destroyed by greed, avarice and deregulation and wars.
I've been looking for work for a year. Nothing.
As jobs are scarce, because companies don't feel they owe their employees anything and everyone should be "happy just to have any job" they are allowed to treat people like shit, get Corporate Welfare, make money and make 2 people do the jobs of 10.
I don't even want to go on about this.
I hope you can find something soon. I hope that unemployment holds out, too. SO many in Congress would be happy to destroy that as well. People who have never been poor OR Middle Class, or who have forgotten what it was like to live that way have no business running this country.

Will keep a good thought for you! And for those of you who are unemployed, if you enjoy writing, you all might consider signing up at a site called Freelancers.com They have people who post online jobs and there are a ton of them for writers. I am working part time for a company I connected up with there. Don't make a ton of money, but every little bit helps, yes? It is free to sign up there, by the way.

I just did a year and a half of unenjoyment before I was hired in the end of Jan. I have only had 5 months of work in just under 2 years. The sad part is that I have a wallet full of state license's for my profession. I have put alot of time and effort, with years of schooling to get these license's.
