i've been watching a lot of TLC lately (or what i like to call, the wedding chanel). 4 wedding, say yes to the dress (all 3), & now i'm watching Vanessa & Nick's wedding. all these shows (especially all the say yes to the dresses b/c they're my favorite shows & I hope to work at the 1 in Atlanta 1 day) make me want to get married just so i can plan & have a wedding (but mostly try on & by a dress). i've been in a relationship off & on for almost 3 yrs (the last... over yr & 1/2 have been great w/ no problems or break ups). i'm only 22, & i don't want to get married before i'm 25, but these shows are killing me. do any of you women out there who aren't married yet ever want to at least just go wedding gown shopping b/c of these shows, or is it only me?
i'm renaming TLC the wedding channel

Hahahahha. I know the feeling. I just turned 24 and watching shows like that give me wedding and baby fever. My boyfriend makes fun of me but than sometimes he'll make a comment and I'm like ohhh so I'm not the only one with wedding ideas.

I love looking at the beautiful gowns, but I would never spend anywhere near what these women do on dresses. The other day I watched a bride negotiate a floor sample down to I think $13K or $14K. To me, that's ludicrous. That's almost a year's rent or mortgage. For that kind of money I could fly halfway around the world, and spend the month wherever I land. Why would I ever spend it on a dress that I would use for ONE DAY? No way.

These shows are nice to watch, or to get ideas if you do your own sewing/catering/weddin g planning, but I wouldn't bother setting foot in Kleinfield Bridal.

TLC has a pretty basic outline...
1) Wedding related shows
2) Cakes and cupcakes
3) Little people
4) Big families and children
99% of their shows fit into one of those categories. If they could find a midget couple with 10 children who are getting married and own a bakery, they would never need to create a new show.

go buy a vintage wedding gown and walk around town with it lol that way you satiate an urge but you don't make life changing decisions. i would totally do this if i had the money for anything but school

I don't watch TLC, but I work at weddings and seeing all the options for dresses, decorations, cakes etc. always makes me think about what I'd want for my wedding. I have it planned out pretty well in my head lol

Ha, no, not just you. I'm not even seeing anyone, and don't plan on a serious relationship anytime soon, so I think it's silly to be interested in wedding dresses that I may never use.

My wife refers to it as "the little channel" due to item 3 on your list.

I've been married for a while, but before I got married when my friends and I had the wedding itch we'd go try on dresses just for the fun of it.

if 1 of them is a hoarder, then they could just cancel the rest of the shows, lol.
