It looks pretty thin to me. Some towels like this seem to work no better than napkins.
How quality is EF's towel?

Not at all. Actually when I first got mine, it worked just fine for the first few uses. Wash it once or twice and it sucks. It's cute and will do, but it WILL NOT dry you off. We actually retired ours for things like cleaning spills and giving the dog a bath. The other day we were bathing the dog and my partner said "this towel is doing NO good!" That's how non-functional it is. However, I love the cute design and colors and I use it for things like the pool and when I don't necessarily need a good towel for drying well.

At least it's nice to look at. Still wish it was more functional.

Did you know that washing towels with fabric softener (the dryer sheet or the liquid stuff) makes them not absorb? Try washing it without fabric softener!

Personally, I LOVE the towels! Back when they had the "Buy a bath and beauty item, get a FREE beach towel", I stocked up. I had given a few of the towels away, currently use 4 on a regular basis, and have 2 put away for when these fall apart. I've had no issues with these towels and even my husband likes using them.
They have been washed numerous times and still look new.

I did not know that. I was wondering what caused them to not be absorbent.

Oh, we don't have the EF towel so I can't say anything about the quality. I do like the design.

It's as good of quality as any other beach towel... it's about the same thickness.
