Every 2 or 3 years I cut my hair short because I worry I am too old to have long hair. But it never feels like me and I grow it out again. I am curious what you think.
How old is too old for a woman to have long hair?

I really dont think it matters as long as it looks nice. I think some people may be too old to have a mohawk, but whatever works for them!

As long as a person can take care of it, go for it. I love long hair, mine was down to my belt at one time but I feel that it must be kept clean and nice looking. Nothing worse than long messy hair.
It all comes down to what you like. Never should age be a determining factor.

You are never too old for long hair!!!

I have long hair. When I turned 27 or so, my mother said I was "too old" to have long hair. I couldn't care less about her archaic standards. I a lot older than 27 now, and my hair is still long. I love it. My husband loves it. I refuse to play by outdated "rules."
My mother also tells people they can't wear white after Labor Day. So? I also wear what I want.

I don't think anyone is too old for long hair. I always had my hair short when I was an adolescent because my parents smoked, we had irony well-water, and my hair just would not grow beyond a certain length without splitting. Ever since I got married and moved out (my husband and I don't smoke) we have city water, and my hair finally started growing so I've kept it long. There are times I want to get it cut because my 3 year old has a habit of pulling it, but it took me this long to have long hair so I'm going to wear it this way until I get tired of wearing it this way.
I wouldn't care what age you are, if you are comfortable with your hair and it is healthy and not in need of some cutting due to split ends then keep it long if that's what you like.

I think long hair is beautiful. My mom has long hair down to her butt and she's 43 years old. It suits her really well and she plans on keeping her hair long for many years to come. She has thick straight hair. I think as long as your comfortable with it and maintain it well who cares what anyone thinks!

Thank you everyone for the feed back! I'm so glad I asked! I'm surprised by the results so far. I wasn't cutting it all off again anytime soon beyond the normal trim, but I did expect some people saying it's time to cut it off.

My mom is 61 and her hair is down to the back of her knees!
Some one being "too old" for long hair sounds pretty silly to me!

It should not matter how old you are. If you like your long hair then keep it.

Anyone can have long hair, age is not a deciding factor.

I agree with everyone else. It depends on the person and the hair. I certainly don't think such things should be governed by some archaic, outdated "rules".
I'm in my 30s, and have really long hair. I love it, my man loves it, and I always get compliments on it. So I say - go for it!!

My mother has "rules" for everything. I dismiss most of them out of hand.
It's your head, if you like the hair, grow it, baby.

The only time a person would be too old, in my opinion, to have long hair is if they could no longer take care of it properly. But if you can keep it reasonably clean and untangled and it suits you and makes you happy, then by all means go for it!

my mom is 50 and her hair is beautiful, long and silver. My grandma is going to be 70 and hers is the same.

Does that mean that there's an age restriction on short hair? Is there a sexuality restriction too?
My hair is fairly short and I'm pretty feminine... am I doing it wrong??? OH NO!

No age limit. I think it looks better than that standard hair cut that all old ladies seem to get.

I'm 30, and I've only cut my hair above shoulder length ONCE in my life. I was about 12 and I hated it SO much and swore that I would never do it again. Sometimes I think about cutting it, and I think I've decided I'm going to grow it for a year without trimming it and then get it chopped off for Locks of Love. I know they have a length requirement, so hopefully by that time it will be long enough that I will still have some length left after the chop Anyway, I see NO reason to cut your hair because you're "too old". There is no such thing!

My aunt keeps trying to convince my mom to cut her hair because she's getting older, but she really looks better with long hair and even prefers it long. There's no need to limit yourself only because of age!

I've seen some very striking looking older women who have great looking silvery/white hair of longer lengths. I think it's less about your age than how you wear it.
04/09/2012
no age limits.

I like long hair on anyone.
04/09/2012
I don't think long hair is ever the issue, I think it's the rest of the style that would be of greater concern to me.
04/09/2012
I personally love long hair on women. I think it just makes them look that much more sexier. So don't cut it and just let it grow.

All I remember from my childhood are images from movies and tv where the matriarch of the family had the longest hair out of all of the female family members and she kept it in a bun, letting it down only at night and only in front of her husband. I thought it was very...I don't know, it just gave me the warm, fuzzies for some reason.

IT DOESN'T MATTER! JUST BE YOU ......I wish I could rock long hair but my hair turns frizz central if I grow it past my shoulders.

I've always adored longer hair on older women. Keep growing it out!!!
