I took a pottery class years ago and have been looking for another one. It was so much fun! How many of you have taken a pottery class?

I never have, but I must ask: was this before or after the movie Ghost?

Took it in school. I'd like to take another.

I have been taking pottery classes since I was 8 (16 years now) and I love it. It is my zen.

I took one back in high school. I've wanted to throw on the wheel recreationally for years now, but I can't find the time.

At one point, I very much wanted to do this. Time got away from me and I never signed up for any, but a local art studio is starting classes. I just may look into it.

I haven't, but I would really like to. It looks hard but fun!

AW! Your thread is bringing back SO many memories for me. My grandfather was an amazing crafter. He had real talent and was well known for his pottery! His pottery is in houses all over our area--and then some. It's absolutely stunning. I haven't really developed the knack for pottery, but so much of my crafting talent came right from him. When my twin and I were kids, we used to go to work with him and he'd give us clay and let us make all kinds of things. His VERY FIRST piece of pottery work was made for me. My mom has kept it on her display shelf thingy since the day it was given to her, which I believe was right before I was born or shortly after. It says my name on it and has a bear as a handle. He's made some beautiful art work with his pottery and dreamcatchers. We all have a lot of his work still in our homes. He passed away almost 3 years ago.

I never took up the love for pottery like he did, but I wouldn't mind taking a class just because. I still remember watching all the hard work he put into each and every tee-tiny detail of his pottery. He did it all by hand too!
People tell me all the time that I have taken after him when they see my handmade items. Some of my family members say "you remind me SO much of you paw-paw" when I do strange things like collect a million plastic bags because "I'm going to end up making SOMETHING out of them.. I'm just sure of it." Lol.
I don't think I'll ever develop a love for pottery, but it is fun.

i had 2 courses while in art school. freaking loved it. certainly wasn't very good on the wheel or in general at all, really, but i've always loved working with clay. as a child i had my own wheel and loved working on clay projects in girl scouts.

my favorite is the feeling of the clay in my fingers. so squishy and fun! like playdoh for big kids.

Not since middle school, but it was pretty fun. I'd probably do it again if I had the time and opportunity.

I've never made any sort of pottery but, I'd really like to.
