My bf and I were thinking of going this route. Too many bad genetics on my side of the family (lots of mental illnesses, cancer, and a bunch of other nasties) as well as not wanting to mother anything.
How old was your guy when he got the procedure and did he have any problems? I would like to be fixed, but doctors won't do it, saying I need to have so many kids first or be past my 30s or whatever.

He was 23 at the time that he had it done. It was an in office procedure that took less than an hour. I took him home, he took it really easy for a few days- advil and the occasional bag of frozen peas to keep the swelling down. He bruised a bit but he had scar tissue from a prior procedure when he was a kid. He had zero complications.
We talked about it and went that way with it for two reasons- one being it is a LOT cheaper and the other being the higher potential of side effects for any female sterilization, both direct results of the procedure and long term. He has said several times that he's glad he had it done because of the freedom and of course I'm enjoying the benefits!
