I hate when this happens, it makes me mad. I'm not a prop for you to direct for your viewing pleasure.

I wear my heart on my forehead - my face conveys emotions I don't even know I'm feeling at the time so people often think I'm extremely upset when the reality is that I'm just in deep thought and don't want to be bothered while in said deep thoughts. So, it really gets on my nerves when people tell me to smile.
I once read the Russian culture is often distrusting of Americans because of how often we smile and it's often perceived as being fake or trying to scam someone. It put an interesting twist on things.
I have also been accused of "flirting" and trying to "steal someone's man" because I have a habit of smiling when I first meet people and it's seen as a come on which is the most ridiculous thing in the world to me, so that also helped curb the smile response in me.

I really resent people telling me to smile. A fake smile is one of the worst looking things you can paste on your face. My mouth is full and naturally turns downward it is not an indication of how happy I feel and neither is a giant smile. I often grimace when I am truly annoyed and bare my teeth...it is not a smile.
My eyes tell the story of how I really feel. I am not a smiley type person though I am, generally, a happy person.
Often if someone orders me to smile I simply turn around and walk away or tell them that when I feel like smiling I will smile and not a moment before hand. Same with people who urge me to eat when I am not hungry...

I always smile, so I never hear that from anyone.

I freakin hate it!

I think it irritates me. if im not smiling there is a reason for it.

I get sick of "Smile, you're prettier when you smile."
How I feel about it is that it's not my job to be pretty for you or smile for you. For all you know, my grandma just died. In fact, someone said that to me right after my grandma died and I told them off. I'm not going to walk around smiling my d*** head off while I get ready for a funeral.

I don't fake smiles. Fake smiles look creepy. If someone tells me to smile for a picture, I smirk instead.

I don't smile when someone tells me to. It's like a matter of principle.

I roll my eyes and stick out my tongue but that usually makes me chuckle and smile. I can't stand when someone tells me that except my husband. He can get away with it! Most of the time lol

I smirk

Cat E.
It makes me uncomfortable when someone says that.

I hate people who say that.

Very annoyed

I find it annoying; it's something my father does frequently.

I ask them to tell me something funny. No need to get all mean about it...if they want me to smile, make me laugh. I'm not sure why people get so annoyed...I'm not asked to smile that often.
