How do you make your omelet?

So I'm sitting here with this omelet, oh so lonely... My husband, for whatever reason, forgot to buy cheese. So when he made me an omelet today, there was no cheese to add into the mix. It looks like... a sad egg pancake.

So, I know what you're thinking - What a "far out" forum post. What I'm thinking about is... How do you make your omelet? Cheese/ No cheese? Onions, cilantro, tomatoes, etc.?

They taste like dirt to me. Literally. I grew up around chickens and stuff like that and we always had fresh eggs and those can be really gamey, especially with the crap my dad would let them eat. I don't like the way the smell when they're cooking, I don't like the texture and I don't like the look of them. They also give me really horrific gas. *blush* Strangely, I don't mind them in my fried rice or in this casserole dish that has potatoes and cheese in it because they don't taste like anything.

Ohhhhhhh okay I gotcha. You know, I don't much care for farm eggs. They taste awful to me. I used to eat them all the time when I was younger because our best friends had a chicken farm.

I do love them in rice though! Idk about a casserole. I'm picky about my eggs I guess.

Gas from eggs? Omgsh that might be my problem! I've been having that issue actually.

My beloved convinced me to try his scrambled eggs one morning and it had been about fifteen years since I had eaten an egg like that, so I said screw it I'll do it for him. I ate them, happily. He does something special to them that I can't quite figure out. It was one of the first times we were spending the night together and I woke up at 3 AM and the room was rancid. I prayed with all of my heart that he would sleep through me climbing over him to spend the rest of the night in the bathroom. It was epic and disturbing. I refuse to ever be talked into it again. And much to his amazement, I can make an egg salad that will knock your socks off even though I've never tasted it.

Lmao! How odd is that?! You can make an egg salad that tastes good without eating it! That's pretty darn awesome though, you have to admit.

I find a lot of omelets too heavy, so I try and counterbalance that with my ingredients. My ideal omelet will have fresh diced tomato, chunks of avocado, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, and creme fraiche on top. Probably brie inside, with spinach and turkey ham.

And rosemary. I never cook eggs without rosemary.

You are soooo similar to me! I try to add some salsa though. Usually thick salsa... a little more similar to pico de gallo.

Yes ma'am! Here's my usual ingredients:

- Diced onions - LOTS
- Garlic, crushed
- Tomatoes
- A thick salsa to add a medium to it all
- Avocados (thinly sliced)
- Sometimes Sour cream on top, mixed in with the cheese
- Colby Jack Cheese
- Lots of ground black pepper
- A tad bit of salt, but not too much. I have to watch my sodium
- Green Bell Peppers
- Jalapenos or Hatch Peppers

That's my omelet!

Hmm, I normally like my eggs sunny side up, but if I'm making an omelet I love to add in onions, cheese, and garlic. Mmmmmmm.

Eggs, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, and salsa combine to make an awesome omlette for me. Sometimes I don't mind throwing in a small amount of red peppers, but it depends on my mood.

Onions, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and sometimes, hot peppers. Every once in a while, I'll put salsa on top, but usually I just leave the top plain because my s/o likes to add Tabasco sauce and ketchup to his.

Ham and american cheese with onions and maybe tomatoes on top.

I like to mix mine in the eggs and have a single layer. Some people put the other stuff in the middle and fold it over...different strokes.

my omelets have to have ham & cheese for sure, but i also love cooked onions, cooked green bell peppers, & cooked mushrooms. my mom used to make amazing omelets like that for the family on sundays. before that, my mom would make my siblings & i cinnamon rolls. from a can of course, but we still loved them.

Mmm, omelets. I made one for breakfast the other day that had goat cheese, avocado, beans, rice, tofu, and salsa. It seemed like a weird combo, but boy did it taste good!

Green onions, red peppers, tomatoes, sometimes mushrooms. If I'm lucky and there's some kind of cooked potato leftover from the night before's dinner, throw that in.

I almost always eat my omelets on a toasted bagel with a slice of cheese, as a sandwich. I'm just too in love with carbs
