How do you do lunch?

Contributor: Tori Rebel Tori Rebel
This applies more to those of us that work outside the home, but could be applied to anyone I suppose. Do you order lunch out? Does it bother you to do so? Do you pack from home religiously? Or some mix of both?

There are people in my office that order lunch daily and financially, that would kill me! Depending on where we order from, lunch runs anywhere from $6-$12 per person per day. I try to find the happy medium where I bring lunch probably 4 days out of 5 but indulge if I feel like it one day a week or once every two weeks - and I usually hold out for the places I really love. I can't stand to spend the money when it's food I'm just 'meh' about.

I usually don't do lunch at all. The few times I have, it was bag lunch.

I usually bring something from home. Occasionally I'll get something from one of the places nearby, but that's usually no more than 1 or 2 days a month.

I usually get one of those pre-made sandwiches from 7-11 or Wawa, and some sort of fruit drink. Occasionally, I'll bring something from home.

I work next door to a grocery store and I usually go to their salad bar. It's cheaper than getting a sandwich or going out somewhere since it's pay by the pound and I can still be lazy and not pack something if I am rushed. Plus it lets me eat healthier than I probably would otherwise.

I will either pack left overs from dinner, or I will make a sandwich. Then other items in my lunch as well. Brownies, pudding, chips, banana, apple, ect..

There are people in ... more
I feel the same way. I really don't know how those people can afford to do that everyday. I am a big believer in cooking at home, eating at home and taking a lunch. Though now I do a fair amount of working at home, so eating lunch from home is much easier that way. lol Like you, I'll indulge occasionally, but only if it's something I really love. Nothing makes me madder than spending (what I feel is) too much money for food that I don't really enjoy.

LOL I work in the home but think I should start packing myself lunch. Every time I make myself something to eat my children find their way to it and I find myself eating for the first time around 8 pm when they go to bed.

I am much happier when I make food at home and bring it. Sometimes I go out for a slice of pizza or Indian or something.... but that's only if I'm really busy or haven't been home.

I work at a daycare, so I have a full kitchen at my disposal for lunch. I have a bunch of food stashed there, and they have a lot of staples in case I forget something.

Occasionally one of us will pick up restaurant food, but only 1-2 a month.

I only eat lunch at a restaurant once or twice a month. I mostly just grab a light snack and a bottle of water from home. It's too expensive to eat out and too bad for my health. I know people at work who eat out every single day, and not always fast food. They eat at actual full service restaurants. Then complain about being broke all the time.

I almost always bring lunch to work. Since I work in a retail store, though, if I don't have time to pack a lunch, I can always buy food there. I work over night, so I don't get to go out for lunch at all.

I try to pack a lunch most days. Either leftovers from the night before or a prepackaged meal from the store.
