Pills are my answer to everything. I have been doing acupuncture lately though which has helped a ton.

What kind of pain? That makes a huge difference.
When my neck is out, I do my neck exercises (that I learned in physical therapy) and massage.
When I have kidney stone pain, I take Norco.
When I have headache pain, I have to take Tylenol, because my stomach can no longer handle NSAIDS.
If I bang my shin into something, I don't do anything but curse.

I get pretty bad headaches, and usually I just sleep through those or listen to brown or pink noise in noise-cancelling earbuds with a bandana on. (Works great for other kinds of pain too.
For menstrual cramps, I swear by hot showers and either aspirin or willow tea.
For emotional pain, I like going for a walk or a drive, intense exercise, writing, talking with a good friend, or music. Or smoking, but I quit.

Achy pain - Hot bath
Headache/mild pain (such as hip pain after running) - Motrin
Emotional - shut the bathroom door and cry or go to sleep
Neck pain - exercises from years of physical therapy
Spanking pain - take a deep breath, relax every bone in my body and relish it.

I'm talking about physical pain not emotional. It's kind of hard to ask these types of questions without giving as much information. Anybody dealing with severe pain send me a private message please.

Nothing but over the counter or prescription drugs.

Sometimes it depends on the cause of the pain

Medicine is the best medicine

For long-term, severe pain, really your best bet will probably be a progressive pain control specialist. They can help you figure out long-term strategies that can be helpful.
Stuff like TENS units, physical therapy, trigger points, accupuncture, etc. can sometimes be helpful, depending on the cause of your pain.
Progressive pain specialists won't just dope you up on drugs for long-term issues. They'll try to do what they can to get to the root of the problem as much as possible.
Otherwise, depending on where your pain is, you could always see a specialist for that area (OB/GYN, GI, etc.), and explain your concerns about being doped up.
I sure do wish you the best. Chronic pain is no picnic!!

I don't suffer with a lot of pain - but when necessary I will take OTC pain medications.

Yeah I'm pretty much a pill popper when it comes to pain.

I usually take pills

Your poll didn't allow for multiple answers. When I have horrible period cramps (which is pretty much the only time I'm in pain), I do anything to make it better. Ibuprofen, heating pads, chamomile tea, hot baths.. If I'm lucky I can get it to a bearable level.

Pain pisses me off. I always take pain meds (Sometimes multiple ones) and then try to distract myself, maybe with some chocolate.

I actually run. Pain to cover up the pain. Also drugs, stretching, meditating, and massage all work

Depends on the kind of pain. I tend to take a pill for headaches. I like hot baths for muscle aches. I masturbate for menstrual cramps, or wait it out (they stop eventually).

For me it depends on what hurts and how/why. Sometimes I take a hot shower, or use ice/heat. Sometimes I take a nap for like a headache. I rarely take medicines.

Depends on the pain but heating pad has been my hero after surgery

Drugs, drugs, drugs.
