How do relieve stress when you feel like screaming?

Contributor: KnK KnK
So, I'm stressed and pissed off and I'm trying to find something constructive besides just dwelling on my anger.

I'm personally thinking about a nice cup of tea and mellow music. Possibly a pissy journal entry

What do you guys do to release stress/anger when you feel like screaming or punching someone?

A punching bag and a vibrator. First one, and then the other.

I like the way you think, girl! I need a punching bag soo badly.

Duh! I forgot to say how I relieve stress! I'll either try to get off if it's a possibility, or- and this is a strange one- I'll start cleaning. Whenever I'm mad at my boyfriend or just mad in general, I find cleaning or organizing something- anything!- to be soothing. Weird, I know.

Run until my legs are exhausted then hot shower and sleep. Takes a while but after you exert all your energy exercising there's nothing left to maintain the anger.

Of course, vibrators are an excellent treatment =P

When I am stressed I like to sleep or take a shower. I also love to have some toy time when I'm stressed. So I agree with the vibrator cure that others have mentioned

I do this, too, sometimes. It makes me feel kind of productive, I guess. Takes my mind off things. Other than that, a good cry can be therapeutic. Maybe talking to my mom. Other times, a vibrator can be just the thing.

I usually just rant things that probably make absolutely no sense to whoever happens to be around me.

I exercise. I walk (can't run because of old injury) briskly around my neighborhood until all the steam is blown off. Works every time!

A glass of wine, a playlist of nature sounds on the ipod, a hot bath, good bath products in soothing scents, a good book, candles, no interruptions.

It works almost every time.

I've found, recently, that journaling or venting just keeps the stress level high, feeds it, rather than soothing it.

If it's something i need to analyze I wait until I'm less stressed and write about it objectively.

Hot shower, cleaning / organizing, cooking, taking a walk, making a list about what ever it is that is stressing me, talking to my husband, stopping to make a cup of coffee - depends on the cause of the stress

I get stressed / angry / annoyed / disappointed / etc a lot - so often I just have to let it roll off. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to function!

I'm pretty much the same way. It's pretty easy to push my buttons. I do the normal stuff like take soothing baths, clean, and vent to friends. The only kinda weird thing I do is online shopping without buying anything. Shopping is a HUGE stress reliever for me, but I'm in school so I don't always have the money to spend everytime I'm ticked off. What I do is go through a website (clothes, shoes, toys,fu rniture..whatever) and add everything that I want to my cart and then not buy it. Works for me.

Stop, breathe, go do something else for a while. I got really good at this dealing with some major drama about a year and a half ago, lol

Sometimes I scream. If I can't scream, though, I like to talk through what's going on with someone, or just write about it even if it's just a text file I'll delete right afterward. I get a lot of relief from reading back over my words and seeing the emotion that's there. Often, that helps me realize what I need to do or why I feel a certain way, and that justification and goal-setting helps calm me down.

If it's because of a certain person, right a letter to them. Don't hold anything back. Write every thought, comment, memory, EVERYTHING that you think about of them. When you're finished, put it in an envelope. I then do one of two things.

1.) Mail it to myself.
or
2.) Burn it.

It always makes me feel a lot better. Plus, if you mail it to yourself, once you cool down, you'll look back and think of how stupid it was. (Don't mail it to yourself if you think you're gonna be mad at someone for awhile though... bad idea. Kinda fuels the anger once it gets back to you...)

I normally write in a journal. I used to smoke when I was stressed, but haven't for almost two years now. Punching bags also work wonders. When I'm really stressed and need something to get my mind from what I'm thinking about then I'll clean or cook since it mind numbing work.

I scream. Into a pillow or something. Other than that I write, or clean

I go to my bedroom, close the door & turn on the heating pad and open a good book or magazine. I also make sure to tell the crew not to disturb me for a good 20 min until I am ready to deal with them. I had one of those days yesterday. They wouldn't stop screaming in the house. Guess it's the pre-Christmas excitement.
