I voted sometimes, although I do it through my boyfriend. He's very good at it so if I want something I just ask him to get it for me lol

Its so easy to get anything these days on line. I dont pay for a movie, music, books or anything UNLESS I download them and they are good. If they are good I will go buy it after. Just because I want more stuff like that produced and buying it shows people like it, in most cases. Ive downloaded things since the early days of the internet. My dad taught us how to get games through the phone line before even aol showed up. I have tb after tb filled with everything. Its really a problem. Netflix actually slowed down my dling though, someone I know pays for it so I just use their act and I dl less movies and tv shows now. Right now Id say I dl more books then anything.

I believe that small time artists, you know the one's who really are just getting their career going, need what little they get from actual paying listeners. So for artists like Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Katie Powderly, William Fitzsimmons, Kirtana even Lucinda Williams, I pay for my downloads and even buy actual CD's.
Heck, I even bought a CD from the kid playing guitar at the Village Squire restaurant. The kid's original music was awful but maybe he'll get better. Hey, very few of us started out at the top of our game.

I pirate things I can't legitimately get.

I once spent two hours trying to find a place ANYWHERE to buy a certain artist's music. I am in the USA and this artist is from France and not popular here at all.

There was literally no way for me to pay for it unless I went to France or had a French bank account and address.

So, yeah, I pirated it.

I don't feel bad for doing that for music, movies, or TV shows that are just impossible to legitimately acquire in the US.

There was also a case when I had such incredibly shitty customer service from a company - they would not help me resolve the problem I was having with their software, even though I was trying to guide them how to. I gave them screenshots, I wrote clear and concise descriptions and gave them options of how to fix it. I got a pre-written "did you turn it on" kind of blow-off back, and they wouldn't help even after I explained that wasn't the problem.

This is a huge company that charges a lot for their products and they left me sitting with something I had legitimately paid for that just wouldn't work. So I gave them the finger and pirated the latest version. Because fuck you very much for not even bothering to read my ticket.

Why pirate when there are services like Netflix & Hulu! Many TV networks now post episodes of their TV shows within a day of airing it. I haven't had cable in years because of Netflix, etc.

I Pirate.

I also have Netflix, but most of the movies/shows I want to watch aren't available for instant stream.

Same here. I pay for Netflix and Hulu plus or pro, whatever it's called.

As a musician, I refuse to pirate. I just think, someday, I'm gonna need people to buy my music, and I'd prefer that they pay for it than pirate it. I use Hulu, the free version, and Spotify free. But if I find myself listening to a song enough on Spotify, I'll just go buy it off of iTunes.

We don't even have a TV anymore. Literally, we sold it! We watch everything online now, on 1channel.ch.

I don't currently pirate, but I generally used to pirate things I couldn't actually get in the US. I always feel a bit bad doing it, but try to make a habit of buying whatever I pirated whenever it is released in the US.

I pay for netflix and hulu but pirate anything else I want to watch. If I really like a series or movie I'll buy it someday (for the extras/quality improvement) that I get a giftcard or something but I just can't afford to pay much for entertainment right now.

I don't know if this really counts, but 99% of the time, I only ever download things that aren't available for sale, like live concerts or cover versions of songs & the like. Otherwise, it's iTunes or Amazon for me.
