Every box of Q-Tips says "NEVER put into ear canal". Even commercials years ago, said "only use on OUTSIDE of ear". However, out here, in the real world, EVERYONE I have EVER known says they clean inside their ear...to the ear drum, with Q-Tips.

SO...come on. Share your dirty little secret. Do you live by that "never put anything smaller then your elbow in your ear" rule, or do YOU clean those ears out good, with that lovely little white barbell?????

I always thought it was weird that they put that warning. But I suppose it's to protect them if you ever puncture your ear drum or anything

I always clean my ears out with a Q tip.One while I tried to not clean it out with a Q tip for and just use a wash cloth when I bath and when I finally cleaned my ear out with a Q tip so much wax came out.So now I don't listen to that.

My ears often itch inside and get a lot of build up. I have to use them. My hubbies ears are beyond that. He has to have the ENT blast out his build up. His ears don't work like they are suppose to. He'll go deaf because of the amount of build up.

I make a LOT of ear wax (TMI, I know, I'm sorry). I use q-tips at least every other day to clean it out.

I don't go that far in but I will swab campho-phenique into my ear canals to help prevent outer ear infections. My grandmother used to do this and it was suggested by a doctor to me.

I do. Everyday. I've actually never even read the box though. I didnt even know that warning was there. I know it can be dangerous to push the wax up into the canal but I go nuts if I don't clean my ears every day!

I love using Q-tips! I might be a little strange about it but it just feels so good. One time I did it too much and gave myself an ear infection. =[ I'm more careful now but I still do it often.

No, not anymore. I used to, until I was working in health care and a woman had to come in to have her ears cleaned because she had pushed the wax in with q-tips and it gunked up so badly she couldn't even hear out of one of her ears and the other she began to lose hearing. I got to be the one to clean it out with the bulb, and after seeing what came out, I stopped using them. Gross.

I use Q-tips after every shower to get the wax and water out an so far *knock on wood* my ears are fine. If I go to the doctor with an earache its usually my sinuses an not my ears

I use a special ear syringe with warm water to deep clean out the wax, but for normal hygiene I use Q-tips to carefully clean the outside, never jamming them too far inside my actual ear canal.

I use Q Tips IN my ears. I used to use Q Tips in my babies' ears. How else do you get the stuff out? Humans are gross, mucous laden creatures.

Q Tip puts those "instructions"there for Cover Your Ass insurance reasons. Some people have sued because they put the damn Q Tip in so far they damaged their ear drums then sued the company. These people obviously have other issues than built up ear wax....
