Homemade icing

Contributor: Hoshigetsu Hoshigetsu
I learned a few years ago that it is very easy to make my own icing, regular or whipped. At this point I was curious about other food on whether I could make them homemade since they seemed very simple. It turned out I could, and so I began making flavored icings, flavored butters, and honey mustard. The only icings I currently know how to make are peanut butter and vanilla and I was wondering if anyone else knew how to make not only these but also any other types of icing and if they would be willing to share recipes.

Peanut butter icing:

Mix milk and powdered sugar in a bowl. Very little milk is required to make any sort of icing. Add a table spoon of icing and add as you desire.

Vanilla icing:

Mix milk and powdered sugar in a bowl. Be more careful about the milk in this recipe, because the icing can get very runny VERY quickly. Add a few drops of vanilla and added as desired.

Butter cream is good too. You soften some butter up and mix it with powdered sugar. add a tad milk and a tad vanilla and a dash of salt. mix to the consistency you like.

I made a cinnamon cream cheese frosting once. I'd have to look up the recipe again though...

I never knew that was how you made butter cream. What would the be the difference in butter cream and vanilla then?
