What historical event happened on you date of birth?

I watch the history channel all the time, and I was just wondering if anyone knows any historical events that happened on their birthday?

For me, it was D-Day.

Sadly, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on my birthday, Dec. 7th. I wasn't born yet, but every year on my birthday, I have to hear, "The day that will live in infamy!".

1553 - Lady Jane Grey is replaced by Mary I as Queen of England. (By that notorious man-whore Henry VIII.)

1692 - Five innocent women are hanged as a result of the Salem Witch Trials. (All due to moldy bread grains.)

1848 - The first Women's Right's Convention begins in Seneca Falls, NY. ("Tell 'em, girls!")

1879 - Doc Holliday makes his first kill after a man shoots up his New Mexico saloon. (Sounds reasonable to me.)

1963 - Joe Walker flies a North American X-15 to a record altitude of 347,800 feet, which qualifies as human space flight. (Yes, space geekery here.)

Nothing else for the year of my birth, save for me being born.

Absolutely nothing happenned on my actual birthdate - 7/30/82. But a few years earlier, July 30th was the last day Jimmy Hoffa was ever seen or heard from. And on July 30th 1956, the phrase "In God We Trust" was adopted as the U.S. national motto.

To counter those godless Commies. Politics of the late '40s and '50s was something else, wasn't it, although they were worried about being annihilated, fortunately something that has gone away.

July 16th:

622 – The beginning of the Islamic calendar.
1054 – Three Roman legates break relations between Western and Eastern Christian Churches through the act of placing an invalidly-issued Papal Bull of Excommunication on the altar of Hagia Sophia during Saturday afternoon divine liturgy. Historians frequently describe the event as the start of the East-West Schism.
1212 – Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa: after Pope Innocent III calls European knights to a crusade, forces of Kings Alfonso VIII of Castile, Sancho VII of Navarre, Pedro II of Aragon and Afonso II of Portugal defeat those of the Berber Muslim leader Almohad, thus marking a significant turning point in the Reconquista and in the medieval history of Spain.
1377 – Coronation of Richard II of England.
1769 – Father Junipero Serra founds California's first mission, Mission San Diego de Alcalá. Over the following decades, it evolves into the city of San Diego.
