Hello, I want to put this up as a warning to all who may read this.. There is a new virus dubbed the FBI virus. when it hits your computer a page comes up that says you have been downloading music, videos, viewing child porn, or other banned actions on the interned. They have a very offical looking page with the FBI investigation unit on the headed. you are told to pay a 100-200 dollar fine. IT IS A SCAM.. this is a drive by virus that effects your computer by just visiting an infected web site.

we got it today while Hubby was viewing a video on xhamster. He thinks it may have been a pop up, but is not sure. Any how, i came home to find my computer is frozen in its tracks. Malware anti virus does not work because they virus blocks it from working. Even if you can unlock your computer, they watch your key strokes to get your cc info.

this is a nasty virus. I have found a way to unlock my computer by using a guest account. I can not restore my system to a previouse point because the virus deleated them all. OY VEY. it is a bad day..

But, i wanted to put this up so others will be aware.

the darn thing is preaty bad over 2 hours with a computer tech working on my computer and he can't get it to anything except load up the page that tells me to pay the fine. my computer is being held hostage by this. It has now infected all acounts on my system.

I tried to pay the fine, just pay the darn ransom for my computer. The page says to use your green dot money card. very thoughtful, there is no protection for your money on them. at least not that i know of. also, unfortantly, others have paid the fine and had their entire balance taken.

what do i do.. i'm going to go crazy if i can't get my last two reviews completed. i am so close to 100. i guess i'm going to loose all my photos and everything. and just buy a new computer sunday. i don't know what eles to do..

i have to go. the computer tech says he has done all he can right now and he will look up some stuff and come back tomarrow. the means i can't use his computer any more tonight.

Thank you so much Sammi, I was able to get on the computer at work and print off the page. Unfortantly, I can't get step 3. maybe my step 2 is not at the right folder, but when i go to what i think is the right folder, i don't find anything in it. not a thing at all.

However, while i was at work my husband figured out how to get safety mode with networking to work. This way I can get online for a few days and also get all of my files onto a removable hard drive. I hope to be able to buy a new lap top monday. at this point, since my computer is so old and all, it is best just to buy a new one.

The main thing is i can't write reviews because MS Word is not working in Safety Mode and I can't do videos.

I am so sad. i'm so close to 100 and I gave my word that they would done by Wend. and now it is friday and they are still not completed. Please pass the word on to Stromy incase I can't get my email to load.

Everything is running very slow on my computer, so I have a hard time loading my emails. and everything..

DONT PAY!!! it wouldnt do any good except make the scum who created the malware richer.dosen't work.

If you want a pretty nice way to sidestep most browser installed viruses, hit this link and read up:


Blocking Unwanted Connections with a Hosts File


It's not super duper simple, but for most if you can read directions you can have this set up and be much safer in a matter of minutes.

This happened to a guy at work a few mos back. He freaked and was going to pay it. My Boss and I just laughed (yes he looks at porn at work). Fool.
