Have You SEEN What Is On TV These Days?!

Contributor: js250 js250
What has happened to the programming on the TV? I am sitting here recovering, (and really wishing I could move around a lot better to do something other than watch TV), and there is not that many interesting shown on anymore...I realize it has been awhile since I watched TV--but dang!!

So what do you watch? What channels? Do you agree that the programming has gone down a bit?

I watch a few sci-fi shows, but the quality of programming has declined like crazy. Catering to the lowest common denominator has ruined a lot of niche channels, and the dumbing down of others is even worse!

There is game of throwback on HBO on Sunday nights at 8pm. That is if you have cable. On regular TV there isn't much to watch.

It is pretty god-awful, I agree. We have that Xfinity On-Demand thingy, though, so I can watch some of the older series when I'm in the mood. Watching the newer version of Battlestar Gallactica right now!

There's a lot of tv so there's a lot of it that isn't good. I like the walking dead, workaholics and the soup. DVR means never having to watch whatever happens to be on, I watch my shows whenever I want to. Also the nba playoffs have been really good this year. playstation/xbox > tv

There are some shows I watch, but only online. My three shows are Game of Thrones, The Colbert Report (and The Daily Show), and The Killing.

The Killing is one of my favorite series also -- but the episodes of the new season are still in my DVR.

Besides The Killing, I'm watching Rookie Blues and Longmire right now.

I do agree and rarely watch much of it.

Ditto on The Killing, and ditto on the new episodes still being on my DVR.

My mom recommended Longmire but we haven't watched it yet.

I agree about TV going downhill. It seems like everything new is a crappy reality show, and if not, the networks cancel any good series they start to air.

I like to watch My Little Pony and Pound Puppies on cable TV. I'm not sure if that's your cup of tea, though!

I saw the first few episodes of Longmire--decent show!

I really miss Life.

I tend to mostly watch cartoons (for for adults, like south park, and for children like adventure time) or true crime shows. I do stick with a few series on day-time-TV that i enjoy such as Hannibal, Grimm and Parks & Rec and some other FX, FOX and NBC shows. I have an excessive amount of Twilight Zone episodes saved to my DVR since it's my favorite show and i have my DVR set to record any episodes that i havent watched yet. Oh and Boy Meets World as well!

I watch Syfy, spike, and just about any with police shows. I love criminal minds, watch CSI and NCIS, law and order shows and so on. Super Natural is the show to watch in the morning.

I don't have cable because it takes too much of a day away. We use Hulu for free and watch some shows; suits, white collar, bones, castle, the voice, etc...

I kind of love trash TV and watch almost all of the bravo reality shows. Otherwise I will watch House Hunters or Say Yes to the Dress...that sort of thing.

I love to hook my computer up to my TV so I can watch hulu and dramafever (for my Korean dramas!) when there's nothing but junk and reruns on!

I love Fraiser! That's one of my favorites too, but I usually just catch it when it's on TV.

I stopped watching TV ages ago. If I want to see a certain program I go online.

I can hardly watch TV anymore. When I do, I end up watching reruns of older shows mostly. There are only a handful of shows I currently watch: Game of Thrones, Master Chef, Big Brother (when it's on), Project Runway (when it's on) and Modern Family.

I am moving soon and doubt I will even bother getting TV services. With so few shows, I can just watch them online.

You should give Longmire a try -- it's a pretty decent show -- I never missed one episode from last season.

Same here! I can't just sit around watching TV and if there is a show I want to watch, it's usually online late at night when I have time.

I don't like watching TV much because of the ridiculous amount of commercials and hardly anything seems worth watching.

I don't watch much TV because of the low quality of programming and how many commercials there are. When I do stick with a show, it's usually sci-fi and something I watch with my family.

That's why we need the DVR - skip the dumb commercials!

Don't watch much TV at all and only catch what I want to see on my iPad when I feel like watching something according to my schedule.

I haven't watched too much TV over the past couple of years, but yeah, from what I've seen, the quality has definitely gone downhill.
