Have YOU ever won a real nationwide or regional sweepstakes or drawing for a prize?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
Close friend went into a major chain store about six months back. They had a table set up to open charge cards for that store. Those signing up were "automatically entered for a chance at a $10,000 grand prize". Well, this gal..who has never won ANYTHING much, gets a certified letter, and some tax forms, and VOILA, she has WON. Yes, half went immediately to the tax man, but still, she got $5,000 to keep, out of the blue!!!

Have you ever won anything like that??? (I have had a couple $2 lotto wins and that is about it!!!)

Im a sweepstaker. Ive won over 1500 dollars worth of stuff from oct 2010 to oct 2011. This is my second year sweeping, Ive already won a 130 dollar flip hd cam. Its really hard work but is awesome when you win.

My best prize was a prize package of an ipad, beat headphones, some cds, posters, shirts retail value of 1000.00.

Let me reiterate that is very hard work to win. I enter over 500 sweepstakes a day, every day.

Online, I've won a stuffed animal and what happened to be my favourite purse before it broke. Does that count?

I start right when I wake up and have my coffee. Usually 2 to 4 hours depending on how fast my computer is that day. I have a program called Roboform that fills out my general information for me, so it quickens up the process. But its a lot of rule reading, and making sure you can afford the taxes. Everything over 600 dollars is taxed. Its a rush when you win though.

Never bother to enter that sort of stuff, I know I'm not that lucky!

Totally sounds like something I would do. But I'm confused. What are you actually entering? Is it like from one website? Do you have to search for them everyday?

I pay for a premium subscription on a site to list every sweepstake for me. And it keeps track of what I enter, its a forum. They have ones they list for free but for 30 bucks a year Id rather see all the good ones. Ive more than got my money back id say.

The site lists whos hosting the sweep, a little info and gives you the link.
I like it because its a forum with other sweepers who share knowledge and support and their wins. Its really nice.

The best shots are instant wins because so many people win a prize instead of others where its maybe 4 that get a prize, one of them being the grand prize winner. Either way its still worth the money and effort in my opinion. Ive got some really cool stuff Id never have been able to afford otherwise.

I've never won anything like that. I don't really enter too many of them, but whenever I do enter I never win.

I've won contests before.. nothing with a value of over $1000 though. Even if it's something small though, it's a total high feeling

I have not won any major prizes or sweepstakes but I did (within a week) win tickets to the Vans Warped tour 2010 and a $25 gift certificate to a restaurant.

I've won quite a few things, I used to enter sweeps every day...but I just don't have that kind of time lately. I will enter if I see something but I'm not obsessive about it anymore. My biggest win was a camera.

I have done "sweeping" for the past year or so, used to spend a lot more time than I do now. I have won small things, largest value was I think $75.

I called in for a radio contest twice and won tickets both times. One was for the Cowboy Junkies concert and the other was for a comedian/hypnotist show. I also won $10,000 off of a scratch ticket from my state lottery but you actually keep 6500 after taxes. Not bad for a two dollar ticket! That is about all I can think of.

Sadly, I've never won any sweepstakes, but I don't enter many so that's understandable.

please tell me that these are NOT "mail" in sweepstakes? At .47 cents a stamp, that would be about $235 a day, or $1645 a week, or $6580 a month. You could BUY a lot of flip phones for less.

Even if these are online, if you are putting in that much time, and effort, it seems your "dollar per hour" basis..total of what you have won, verses effort and time put in, means you are working for WAY below minimum wage at this. If you got even a poor paying job, you could work LESS hours, and BUY all that stuff, with LOTS of money left over.

I don't get it????

No its not mail in. And i work from home as an artist, if i do work work its in short bursts of time because of what i do. So i make a decent amount of money for each gig and than all the other time im not doing anything but what i want to. So taking 4 hours of my morning that id usually be bullshitty to fill out sweepstakes is really helping in the long run. Ive won giftcards for food and clothes and other things, a lot of fun stuff we wouldnt have been able to buy without me being a sweeper. Im one of the middle level sweepers there are people who put a lot more time in to it.

i love doing it. Its addicting and a rush and not hurting anyone. So you really dont have to get it.

I do lots of sweeps too - but I don't have to put hours into them. And some people are stay at home moms/housewives. In-between other things I do online I coupon and enter quite a number of giveaways. I still do a lot at home, bring in money being a model of sorts on the side (nothing dirty), and spend lots of time playing with and teaching our 5 year old. It's all about multitasking. Not everyone spends all day in front of the computer to enter sweeps.
