Have you ever taken in a stray animal you found?

Did you try and find the owners? Did you succeed or did you give it a "forever" home? If it was a wild animal (squirrel, possum, etc, did you release it or keep it)?

Yes, in the past I have had multiple birds, a squirrel, kept some skunks for awhile, and have found all of our dogs and cats (besides one) that way. They make the best pets in my opinion.

Kind of? There is a stray cat that frequents our backyard so we've adopted her as an outdoor cat. My partner is allergic otherwise she'd be an indoor cat. We feed her daily and spend time outside with her.

We had a baby rabbit. We found it laying on the ground outside its den, half dead. My kids and I nursed it back to health but it never gained full strength and died a week later.

I also adopted an abandoned baby duck from a ditch beside the road. Someone broke its neck a day later (the guy was being an ass).

I've adopted and found new homes for many stray cats over the years.

When I was a kid we took in an opossum that seemed to have been abandoned by its mother. It must have been abandoned by its mother on purpose because as much as I tried to feed it properly and care for it, it died a few days later.

We found a stray cat last winter. We tried to find its owner (put up posters, etc), but people tend to abandon animals in our neighborhood and no one ever claimed it. It lives with my sister now.

As a kid we took in several dogs. When my daughter was younger we got an abandoned dog from the pound.

Nope, I've always been too scared that a stray would have horrible diseases and ticks.

We helped dogs get home before but my family did take in a kitten once, he died from that weird virus cats sometimes get. But he had a loving home for at least 2 months!

<.< We might have, but only for a little while until we found a good home for them.
It was a pair of orphaned squirrels actually, Rocky and Bullwinkle. We were walking home from the bus stop when I was little and saw them just sitting beside their mother.
She had fallen from high up in a tree and died so we scooped the two babies up and brought them home until the animal rescue/rehabilitation place could take them.

...oh, and then there were all the frogs and toads I caught and kept as pets for a day or two each. xD
