Have you ever changed your mind about an appealing carreer because of worrying you would be too sensitive about it?

When I was a kid I wanted to be a vet for a few years, then I had to realize that vets often have to put down lil ones... (Aka animals...) That was it for me... (And I wonder how come I had the idea, because I was never able to handle the sight of needles in skin, surgeries and things like that... But oh well... ^^)

Later in life, in my teens I was thinking about being a social worker... But hell, I could cry my butts off for the smallest little things! It was just sooooooooooooo scary to imagine that seeing so many saddening things would just... Devastate me I guess? ~blushes

So anyway... Now am gonna be a babysitter, and will still help my Master in web design... I guess it is a much "nicer" "job environment"? ^^ ~lays ears blushy

So... What about you?

I had the same idea about being a social worker. I really liked the idea of helping people but ultimately decided against it because of my "sensitive" nature.

I have, I really want to become a Veterinarian but I doubt I'd be able to handle it emotionally.
The thought of having to look some worried wreck of a child or even an adult in the eye and tell them that their cherished family member (also known as their "pet") didn't make it would absolutely devastate me in the long run...it's the same reason I couldn't be a doctor actually. ='<

I wanted to be a Veterinarian but couldn't deal with seeing animals hurting. I also was going to be a social worker, but knew I would get too emotionally involved.

Nope, I've always wanted to be an engineer, and machines don't tend to have emotions.
