The other day I turned my back for maybe 5 mins to load the dishwasher only to then find my 3 yr old opening the infamous hidden stash drawer. I managed to deistract him ( as I was laughing at myself in my head and planning when to go buy a toy storage box). Has anyone had their kid/s find their hidden stash?
Have any of you parents had your kids find your hidden stash of toys?

Our stash wasn't very big at the time - but my wife's rabbit vibe disappeared for a while - them mysteriously showed up again!

Yes, my kids have seen some of mine when I've had them out charging, but they're still young and don't know what they are.

Ugh, I've discovered my parents'. So awkward.

My children are too little to get it yet. They see my toys. I will hide them from them when it's time. Though, if and when they find them I will explain. I don't want them to think toys are dirty things that should be hidden.

Your right to keep them from thinking they are something dirty and to be ashamed of. Mine is still to young to get it too thankfully lol

YES! We have a 12 year old boy, a 14 year old boy part time and a 2 year old part time. The 12 year old stays with us and the others are with us for a couple weeks then with their dads. Since our 12 year old doesn't stay with his biological dad, he's with us full time and he's the worst about my toys.

He always digs through my things, which is disrespectful and we've had to have these talks about not going through other's personal things for the past year. It only works sometimes. He still does it and has found mine several times. I tell him they are back massagers. Different toys are different things. Envie has that thumb shaped tip so I managed to tell him it was for my migraines! Ha Ha. Deux passes as a foot massager and Freestyle has been labeled my "wand" for endometriosis pain. I just tell him I use it on my belly when it hurts from the endo. Up until a couple weeks ago, he knew no different.
My twin sister visits sometimes and while my partner and I were out of the house, she took our 12 year old in my bedroom and showed him one of my vibrators--Envie, to be exact-- and when I came inside I saw the box was pulled out and asked her why. She said our son had been going through it. I knew it was a lie because he does know better and while he will go through my things, he never would do it while I wasn't in the room. The rule is, he doesn't go into someone else's bedroom unless they are in there.
I knew something was up and I knew she had to have told him what the vibrator was, just to piss me off--she does things like that SOO often. When she left, me and A were alone and he told me she'd showed him something. I knew what it was. He said "she told me it was something dirty, but I don't wanna say what she said." I was furious! I get that it may have been funny to her, but you really don't go that route to embarrass someone, not by telling a kid that their mom's vibrator is not for migraines, but for sexual use. I didn't want him knowing that and I think that's understandable. Sure, they'll learn what these toys are one day, but I didn't need him learning what mine were through her.
When they come across my toys from going through my boxes, I get upset because it's rude, but I don't get angry. I prefer them not seeing them and ever since a couple of weeks ago, he keeps asking me if I have "dirty things." It kinda pisses me off. I've had to upgrade my stash boxes. I'm working on painting up a nice, largish chest and that way I can lock them away now.
Still, it happens, people come across your personal belongings. At least when they're young, you can lie. Lol. When they're older, you have to get more creative... and secretive! Lol. It seems kids are drawn to toys for some reason. I had a mini bullet in the bottom of my purse once and my 6 year old neice stuck her hand in and pulled it out right in front of the family! LOL. Out of the entire contents in my purse, that's what she found. I don't know what it is. Lol

I hope to be a positive influence about sex. Thought I might border the line of being one of those mom's who is too involved.

My 4yo (then 3) found a dildo I was reviewing and ran around the house screaming "boing boing boing."
They've found anal beads also. We also, now, have some toys that just live on our night stands. They're our more discreet toys and they haven't asked, and I haven't offered up any explanation.

Ugh! The thing with you sister and son..awkward, and out of bounds on her part. "Dirty things"...I don't like that it's being shamed basically, by being referred to as dirty, not that it was anyone's business but your own in the first place. You shouldn't have been ut in that position. Since it's was exposed with total disregard for your privacy (or your place as a parental figure for that matter), yeah that is upsetting and would be annoying to pretty much anyone.

And the little ones? Yeah, they're great at finding or getting into whatever they shouldn't.

I really need to buy a locking box for under our bed.

I don't have kids, but found a couple of my mom's vibes as a pre-teen just being nosy when bored. Hiding them in her old purse collection under her bed though wasn't the best hiding spot.
