Guncles!

Contributor: Mwar Mwar
I am the proud niece of my "Guncles" (say gay uncles really fast!)! They are amazing.

I'm curious: in your family, do you have guncles or launts? 2 madres or padres? Are you that person? Do you have specific names for them or how you address them? I just love the term Guncles

Pretty straight family. Normal family? Hell no.

I thought at first that you had mis-spelled the contraction for Great Uncle - Gruncle. At least that's what we call them.

I don't see how this is relevant. How is the fact that they are gay or lesbian relevant to them being your relatives?

I don't have any and this is the first time I've heard of these names. I was wondering what the heck you were talking about in the title so I just had to click .

Haha, wow - I had never heard those adorable word mashups, but I love them. I have both guncles and launts, I love my family and its variety and openness.

My kids have 2 dads but I only have one. My aunt is probably gay but will never ever admit it for fear of losing her parents love or being sentenced to hell....it's sad really.

Sadly I don't have any gay relatives that I know of, but my boyfriend's aunt is married to a lovely transwoman! So he has launts, and we're basically married, I'm going to steal his launts

That's a fun word. I have a cousin that is bi, but that's pretty much the extent of it in my family.

No but I have an uncle who I just call aunt. My dad's the one who taught me to call him aunt and dad thought it was funny when I was a kid. It stuck...

None in my family, because I have very few relations. My parents had me rather late, they were from small families, and most of their families are dead.

I know of no one in my family or step family that is gay... I'm sure I have gay family they are just not open with it... If this is true I hope someday they can be open and feel comfortable/safe and live a happy life and a fulfilling relationship.
I'm from a very small area with a very big family... I'm the only one who has moved away from the area... and I'm sure it would be very hard to be openly gay in that very small community XC
