So I'm a 37 year old male and have noticed a few gray hairs after all these years showing up. Should I let them go and don't fight it or totally pluck them? I guess I have to be mindful of the old myth on this one, who knows if it's true or not! Thoughts on this and if you care to be bold, how old were you when you first experienced this? And if you're feeling more bold, what did you do about it (i.e. - started to color your hair, etc.). Thanks in advance for the input...starting to feel OLD

Hey, I'm only sixteen years older and my beard is nearly all white. At least it would be IF I didn't color it.

I'm 27 and my hair is already 1/4 white. My hair started going white when I was in high school. I dye it, because it's easier than having people ask me about it.
Plucking white hairs doesn't make more grow, though

Personally, I like gray hair. A nice salt and pepper mix looks good, but I also like all the variations of gray or graying hair. If it makes you uncomfortable you can get rid of them, but I'd personally say just keep them. You earned those bad boys!!

Hey, some women (and men) find a bald, shaved head extremely sexy! I know I do.

I wish I could tell all men to stop worrying about the gray hair and balding issues. I know, easy for me to say, right? But seriously, a lot of us LOVE those looks. So take heart!
My man doesn't have a lot of hair, so he just shaves it, and I think it's uber, hella sexy. Look at all the sexy dudes on TV and in the movies who are bald or gray: Bruce Willis, Patrick Stewart, Sean Connery, Jason Stathem, Samuel L. Jackson, Sir Ben Kingsley... I could go on and on. (And enjoy every minute of it. LOL)

I started having grey hair in my early thirties, I'm fine with them and have never colored them. I think it looks pretty cool, the way they're distributed.
I've often wonder why they're refer to as grey instead of white, anybody else speculate on this?

I can't speak from the experience of HAVING gray hair, but I can say that I vote for just lettin it go! I think gray hair looks awesome. My dad's been gray since his early 30's, so I don't remember him with dark hair at all! Looks great on him, I'm sure it'd look great on you too!

I have exactly one and have had it for a few years now. I pluck it every so often just because it's right on top.

My ex-husband was your age when he started going grey. It was kinda neat that he had a big swath of grey among the dark blonde at the back of his head. Anyway ...
Master has receding hair and a couple of greys, and he's in his mid-forties. They suit him, giving him a proper air of authority. Really, grey has never bothered me at all. I guess with my 'ten-tears-or-more-old er-than-me fetish' it's a given that grey will be part of the deal.
Just rock with it. Women who appreciate grey tend to be more mature.

My Man is about half grey. He's in his 50s, so it's expected. I think it's sexy and looks quite distinguished on him. He would never pluck or dye his hair at all. It's not his thing.
I have some grey, but I dye the hell out of my hair. Blue-Black is my color.
I like grey on a man, and it looks good on a woman who wears it well. One of my aunts is completely silver and looks fantastic for her 60 something years.

A lot of girls, including me, love silver foxes. It so hot when a guy is confident with gray hair.

I'm a 32 male and I have grey hair all over the body. I first I used to pluck as many as I could. But now it is a losing battle. I need to let it be.

I am only 28, and I have had salt and pepper hair for years now. My wife says it looks nice, and I don't really mind it. But it just worries me a little that I am already having this problem at my age.

I'm the opposite. I've got pretty thin up top, but prolly won't go gray. I've started just shaving my head again, easier that way. Also, some women like a smooth dome...so I've heard.

I wouldn't sweat the gray. It happens - embrace it and own it!

What JR said. Gray hair is sexy as hell in my opinion and I refuse to let my husband dye his (granted, I'm responsible for most of them, but still).
01/10/2012
My husband is going salt & pepper in his hair and leaving it be. He has dark hair so it's noticeable. It's going gray/white much faster in his goatee. And that he's dying. At least until his head catches up then I suppose he'll embrace the gray.
I have some grays, but I dye them.
Oh, and we're both almost 37.

It bothers me but not to a point to where I will dye my hair yet. I even got some down yonder which I never knew you could get it there, but I shave there so i am not to worried about it.
Let me tell you a neighbor of mines friend has a little girl who is only 3 years old and I saw two grey hairs in her head. I think that is just crazy. Her mom says she must have been reincarnated.

I'm 43 and most of my chin is grey.

I'm 22 and my mother found a single gray on me a few months back. So long as I don't start getting them all over while I'm still in my 20s, I don't think it'll bother me.
As for the myth, plucking gray hairs doesn't cause more to grow. Gray hair occurs when melanin ceases to be produced at the root and the newer hair grows in without any color (technically, this hair is clear, but looks gray or white due to the way it refracts light). There's a few factors that effect how fast a person's hair grays, genetics being the foremost, but plucking will not effect the process (incidentally, neither will stress, which is another wives' tale).
So whether you pluck it or not is up to you. If you do, it won't cause more to grow.

Poor chap was dealt a bad hand of genetics, it seems. Though he actually looks all right with white hair. It's weird looking at him when he was really young and seeing it darker.

Right, I'm so used to Steve Martin with a nice head of grey, seeing him in something else will look totally unnatural!
