As we enter the long hot summer, we like to get out doors and have a cookout. Do you use a GAS grill to cook your favorite burgers, hotdogs, or ribs OR do you use a Webber grill or other devise which uses CHARCOAL briquets? Do you use an OIL Fryer or maybe a WOOD burning Grill or Stove?
Do you use GAS, OIL, WOOD, or CHARCOAL?

We have a Traeger grill. It uses flavored pellets.

We use both gas and charcoal. Most of the time we want something quick so we just fire up the gas grill, we grill a lot year round.

We usually cook our hotdogs and the like using the chiminea, so wood.

We have a charcoal grill, but we soak hickory chips in water and add to the fire for a nice smokey flavor.

I prefer charcoal but, hubby prefers to cook on propane. We mainly use a propane grill most of the time and if we need more room, we'll use the small charcoal grill.

I use a gas grill.

When I started this thread, I forgot to vote. I like my Webber Grill using Charcoal briquets. BUT, I also soak Alderwood, or Apple, or Hickory chips and place them on top of the hot charcoal to add a smokey flavor to our cooked foods like salmon.

I was just wondering, can you still smoke your foods on a GAS GRILL without doing damage to it? Is it safe?

You can. Our house last week came with a gas grill. What we did was soak mesquite chips in water for the afternoon then we made a loose envelope of aluminum foil around the chips and poked little holes in the foil to let the smoke out. We put our wood chip packet between the food and the gas ring. We didnt see that this did any damage to the grill. I will say Our food didn't tast quite the same as using a charcoal grill, but it helped.

Love my gas grill!!! Charcoal tastes better, but just isn't worth the mess or effort for me!!

I just bought my first-ever grill, a charcoal one, last week.

My husband and I greatly prefer the taste (and smell) of charcoal, but it's much easier for us to use propane, (when his legally blind mother uses the grill (not often) it's simply a matter of on-and-off rather than having to mess with lighter fluid, etc).
