How do you decide who your friends are and who your BEST friends are? Do they have to have a lot of the same interests as you? Do they have to be someone you can talk to? What's your criteria?

A best friend, to me, has to be someone who can share all my secrets and let me know theirs. They have to be someone who has a lot of the same interests but also different ones so we have something to talk about. They have to be someone I'm comfortable around no matter what. I only really have a few best friends but I have a lot of casual friends.

Somebody that I can be brutally honest with and they don't just wind up hating me, and will also be just as honest with me. Somebody who doesn't care that sometimes I'm a hypocrite and still loves me for who I am provided I do the same back. Somebody who supports me in my decisions, even if they don't agree with them. Somebody who I trust with my secrets and not to take things the wrong way, and trusts me with the same. These are a few of the things that make up a best friend to me. I've gotten really lucky, and I have a few of them.

Someone who is always there for me. Someone who doesn't judge me EVER. Someone who will honest with me. Someone who won't hate me if I don't take their advice (even if I realize later they are right). Someone who supports me. Someone who loves me for who I am.

To me, my BEST friends are the people who I can tell things to and not worry that it's going to somehow bite me in the ass later on. I can also trust them with the "TMI" information too and be comfortable doing it. I have a lot of friends, but only 4 best friends.
