Does it look delicious, does it make you want it more? (EX. "Daddy! Let's go to Red Lobster! That shit looks goood...") Or does it totally turn you off? (EX. Greasy in your face burger commercial makes you want to hurl...)

I just hate advertisements in general. But I don't watch food programming specifically, and I hate commercials for it too.

It really depends on what it is, which is why I voted for three of them. For instance, Carls Jr has completely turned me off of their food because of how it shows them eating it, but then again some things just look amazing. Most of the time though it doesn't faze me either way.

I agree! Most food commercials don't bother me, but I hate this new McRib commercial for McDonald's. I hate McDonald's to begin with.. and then I see their mouths munching on this BBQ colored slop on a bun and I'm suppose to think "Hell yeah, we goin' to Mickey D's!" No thank you.

i'm a victim to the tacobell commercials every time.

Most places it works on me and makes me want the food - Outback, Sonic, etc. But for the places I know I don't like (McDonalds, Wendys) it does nothing for me either way. It also helps that although I do watch tv, I don't watch live tv - I dvr everything I watch so I fast forward through commercials.

I also record everything so I tend to fast forward through commercials. If i happen to be watching live tv I sort of zone out during commercials.

Food-oriented commercials really don't faze me. I had gastric bypass surgery almost a year ago (11/18/10 will be my one year surgiversary!), and since then I've really disassociated with food. For the most part I look at it as just another task, like brushing my teeth or folding a load of laundry.
But with that said, immediately after my gastric bypass, the food commercials got to me. I seriously wept over a Pizza Hut commercial when I was three days post-op!

the only TV that ever seems to be on is for the kids. I watch TV online. So I manage to miss most commercials.

Oh Gosh, 3 days post-op you probably weren't even allowed solid foods yet! Of COURSE you would have cried! I would have!

I record programs I want to watch and also fast forward through commercials. Otherwise my mute button is used, commercials are so damn loud and intrusive anyway.

Makes me very hungry!!
11/08/2010
Some commercials do make me hungry, but I know how they make the food look so good for the commercials that it can turn my stomach as well.
11/08/2010
For the most part it doesn't bother me one way or the other. Now if I'm starving and waiting for dinner...or sick with the stomach flu on the other hand......

Depends on the food, sometimes a sweets commercial will set off a craving for something like it. Other commercials make me not want it at all. Key point: McRib, it's back in the area and a tasty sandwich, but the way it looks on the commercial is nasty. Literally dripping with sauce and covered in pickles and onions, no thanks!

Most of the time food commercials make me really want whatever they are advertising.

I couldn't care so much for the food commercials.
I do enjoy watching the food network for learning stuff and it does tend to make me want to eat anyhting I have on hand.
I find that I notice A LOT when people are drinking in movies/tv shows and it always gives me desire to drink/beer/glass of wine, though I rarely have alcohol at home.

Ads from my fav food places make me want it. I kinda hate them for doing it...lol.
11/09/2010
I watch TV but purposefully don't pay much attention to commercials.
11/09/2010
If I watch something like Top Chef it always makes me hungry. Commercials usually don't bother me as much.
11/09/2010
I usually tune out commercials. In all honesty, most of what I watch is DVR-ed so I just skip through the commercials. If I do catch one for a fast food company, odds are it will gross me out rather than make me hungry.
11/09/2010
Only if I'm hungry, which happens far less frequently now that I'm focusing on what I eat and making sure I'm eating right. I do have a weakness for ice cream or cupcakes though, but I make sure to treat myself to them weekly so that I don't go slap nuts and binge on them later.
Burgers and restaurant commercials don't really bother me. The food rarely looks the way it does in the commercials.

I usually like food commercials unless their plot is too stupid

It depends on what it is. I have so many allergies, from dairy to shellfish, that so many commercials make me go, "Oh, that would kill me."
Fridays, Ruby Tuesdays etc are places I have never been because everything on the menu is covered with a thick coating of cheese. There is barely anything at the Olive Garden for me to eat. That stuff just looks so greasy and icky to me. Red Lobster, same thing, "I'll have a piece of bony fish with no sauce." No lobster or crab or shrimp for me. I can't eat at most of the restaurants that advertise on TV, so it kind of sucks.

When I was pregnant with my last baby, I could not watch TV because I was so sick. If any sort of food commercial came on, I'd be puking everywhere. That was the only time food on TV has ever bothered me, before that I never gave a thought to food commercials!
02/10/2011
There are so many commercials that I stop paying attention to them.
02/11/2011
I always call someone to come watch Red Lobster commercials with me, because they're SUCH food porn.
02/13/2011
Tv food makes me hungry. Sigh.
02/13/2011
Some of the ads get to me, usually if I've been eating bottom of the barrel stuff because money is tight.
Food Network and the Cooking Channel shows get me hook, line and sinker. My favorites are: Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Man vs. Food, and Worst Cooks in America. I've learned so many new things. I want to run out to the market and stock up and try my hand at it all. Far more effective than any chain commercial.

I am so easily susceptible to advertising suggestions. I see a cheeseburger on tv and I IMMEDIATELY NEED ONE.
