Fifty Shades series, how many of you?

Contributor: SimpleTeaser SimpleTeaser
I've mentioned before that I'm not much of a reader. However, there are raving reviews about the Fifty Shades series. I loved reading the Twilight books and it was mentioned that if you enjoyed those, you may enjoy these.

I don't know much about BDSM but, hear these books speak about it. I've read most of the reviews, and now I'm wondering how many people have read them or planning to read.

Unfortunately, I went to order one the last time I ordered and they were sold out.

I don't ... more
Absolutely not. I've heard things like the writing is amateur, repetitive, stereotypical, and that is something that really displeases me. I won't even consider reading that stuff.

I heard my husbands aunts bring up whos read teh 50 shades of Gray yesterday at the 4th of July family get together. I kindly walked out of the room. I don't want to hear about their sexlife and am not going to share mine.

"I don't know much about BDSM but, hear these books speak about it."

I suggest you *not* look to Fifty for an education/information on BDSM.

1. Miss Mori makes an excellent post about it in this thread on the third page.

2. In this thread, Bex1331 says the books treat BDSM in a negative light.

I might borrow it but I don't think I'll purchase it. I've heard bad things about the writing, too.

To each their own, but PLEASE don't think that this depicts a proper BDSM relationship for even a heartbeat. Christian is an abusive control freak and Ana is a whining bint whose only ambition is gluing herself to a rich, pretty man. So... Edward and Bella.

I liked the plot and overall idea of the books, but the writing (repetitive and high school-ish) gave me a headache and made the books very hard to get through.

I read them and hated them, you can read my first review here then again I also thought the Twilight books were awful but I don't like romance overall, I read each of these simply because of the hype. If you like Twilight, you might enjoy these.

That being said do NOT use them to learn about BDSM, they do everything but say "only fucked up people like BDSM, its terrible to enjoy exploring pain/pleasure. but but because Ana REALLY REALLY loves him she may be able to get over it and save him from his evil predilections that are the result of an abusive childhood."

Read the first two, hated them. I ranted about it in my review a bit of the first book, however, it's not just the plot line. It's the fact that reading about kisses, hugs, roses, helicopters, and all the same shit is so repeatative that I wanted to cry in the first 10 pages of the second book. I can't believe they're best sellers. >.<

I have no interest in reading it, but apparently my mother has bought two of the books.

Bought them, read all 3 kept thinking surely they would get better. I did not care for them and if I had the choice I would not waste the time or money on them again.

Not really an option. I can't say I loved them. The story line was good and kept my attention. The writing? Horrid!
