I baked a cake for my 12 year old nephew today. He wanted lemon. It seems an odd choice for a kid, but he loves it. And it was delicious. What is your favorite kind of cake. I am specifically thinking of store bought mixes, but tell us about your favorite homemade as well. And share the recipe.

Red velvet cake, though German chocolate comes in a very close second. Usually I make them from scratch, but only for special occasions.

Gingerbread or ginger-spice cake, along with strawberry-lemonade cake (the cake mix is one while the frosting is another - people seem to like the strawberry cake with lemon icing combo best).

Oh Mpfm! Now I want cake! Lol. I love most of the ones listed. I love German Chocolate, regular chocolate and especially strawberry with my special strawberry icing recipe! WOw! That stuff is amazing. Lol. Heck, I LOVE the plain strawberry and strawberry icing you get in a box. It's wonderful. My other fav is red velvet! I really like cake and I do pretty good with baking, but I hate B-day cake! Lol. It's weird.

Oh yea, cookie cake! Lol. Coconut cake is good sometimes and so is oreo and coffee cake!
