i always thought it would be great to spend a year or two elsewhere, but have no interest in doing it as a soldier, so, likely will never happen. maybe.

Not me. I've only lived here in America. Actually, I've never moved off the mountain where I have lived me entire life. I truly love this mountain, but certainly would not mind spending a few months somewhere new, in a different country. That would be SO interesting!

I've always wanted to live and work in another country. I agree with you about not wanting to do it as a soldier, though. "Join the Marines: Travel to exotic distant lands; meet exciting, unusual people and kill them."

Our retirement "Plan B" is to go back to my wife's home country and buy a little place in a mountain village. Cost of living is next to nothing. Not sure we'd like it, though. Which is why it's Plan B.

A couple times I spent almost a month in Italy. It was nice for a while, but I couldn't wait to get back home to the United States!! It's not just the English that I missed... I just don't like the way of life; like laws, social rules, and things of that sort. I like my American mind set.
