So my question is simple ever have your E-mail Twitter any other type of online account be compromised, hacked or stolen. How long did it take to fix? Did happen again have any tips on how other can keep themselves safe?

Me, my E-mail was comprised this week. I didn't notice it till today when Laurel E-mailed me saying she has been receiving spam E-mails from my account. Even more annoying I was sick this week ,and thus not checking on my E-mail, prolonging the time this stupid spambot has been able to hijack my account. I've changed all security related info on the account and I'm running multiple virus malware scans on my computer. This seems to have fixed the problem but still aggravating and annoying.

I don't have personal experience, but someone hacked my Dad's Facebook and used it to ask his friend and my cousin to wire money to somewhere in Eastern Europe. It was solved by simply notifying Facebook and changing the password.

I've gotten a couple from you too, thought you were on it.

This happened to my very first email account, which I'd had for 3 years.

gotta love the number/letter/caps combos

Good luck!

Thankfully I haven't had this happen yet. I tend to change my passwords a lot, and I make them complex, so maybe that's helping. It's something that does worry me, though.

I never have. But my wife has. She likes to enter contest's online, and she has to give out her email address along with name and what not. So it was her fault. I dont use my email for much, so I dont worry about someone hacking it.

I fortunately haven't had this problem as of yet. Information on some of those sites compromised because of an asshat who liked to give it out? Yes. But because of hackers? Fortunately, nothing yet

I was going to post some tips but forgot about it till something jogged my memory. i have a few but I'm going to post them one at a time because if I try to post them I'll at once I'll get distracted half way and not post any

If you are having trouble creating a post word that is secure and you can remember according to think link three words not related in anyone to you plus a space or special characters in between is secure enough for most users. Yes it is never going to be a secure as a super complex password but the question here is what is a reasonable tradeoff between convenience and security. link

Unfortunately it not just a question of how secure your password is...and here is were I get distracted and save what I was going to say for the next tip.
