Are any of you EFers' in the dentistry business?

Just curious if anyone here is a dentist or works in dentistry. I spend a lot of time at the dentist these days, so I got curious.

I have an uncle who is a dental surgeon, but I'd rather not see him, he doesn't seem like the type I'd want as a dentist.

Dentistry is a profession I cannot imagine wanting to go into. Bad breath...other poor oral hygiene issues...getting fingers bitten...people being terrified of you...none of it sounds worth it to me.

I know what you have been thru in the last few months! I can see, you DID have a difficult experience. I have a good friend of mine who decided to make a career in dentistry. I went on become a business man, but still remain in contact with him today. He teaches one class at Ohio State University, writes a weekly article in the local newspaper on the topic, and has a great family dental practice.

I hope you will eventually have a better appreciation for the efforts you dentist makes in meeting your dental care needs in the future. Good luck Kendra!

Miss N: I am totally with you on that one! I could not do dental! I don't like being close to strangers for one, much less in their mouths! Ick.

Ghalik: LOL. You crack me up Ooooopen wiiiiiiide! Lol.

PassionateLover2: Thank you I know you've been really awesome, listening to my long nightmare. Lol. I really appreciated your advice more than you could know. I read your messages and found them so helpful. I was thinking I should go with a new dentist, but really wasn't sure if it was just me being paranoid or not so your advice was a God-send! I just hate that you can't trust your own doctors/dentists these days. It's saddening because we go to them with high expectations, putting trust out there and to be screwed over is such a slap in the face. Like that dentist that was on the news for being found out about using PAPER CLIPS (melted down) in people fillings! WTF?! He said he was trying to save money. How pathetic. They make PLENTY and way too much to screw people over.

I just stopped by to acknowledge that I am happy you will do the right thing and see another dentist for a second opinion. You have suffered enough!! Good girl!!! Just stay positive, and maybe ask some of your friends who they go to and maybe from their testimony you will find the right doctor!!

I don't work in dentistry, but back a couple of years ago when I was deciding what to major in I did apply for the dental hygenist program (gross doesn't typically bother me). The waiting list was 3 years for the program! I ended up doing physical therapy instead which I think I will like more anyway.

My last roomate was a dental assistant, she seemed to like it. I know she was waiting to get into the dental hygenist program too since we applied at the same time.

I'm not a dentist. But I wouldn't mind the discount. If there is one out there.

No one I know personally is a dentist or works in a dentist's office, nor am I in the field at all.
