So, despite not feeling so great I received a job from a site I frequent called SitterCity. You make a profile and such and parents can view your credentials and a background check and so on. I need some extra cash so I decided to take a job for this afternoon/evening. Two twin nine year old girls. Easy enough. I have no car, so I made an 11 mile trek to their place and arrived early. I carry this bag full of games and toys, (usage courtesy of an idea from the Babysitter's Club) I knocked once on the door after applying some deodorant and smoothing my hair down. A small blonde lady peered from around the curtains only to shoot “We don't want anything, thanks ma'am!” I shrugged it off and knocked again. I wasn't THAT early. She peered out again and sighed heavily and said “No seriously we're fine, thanks!” I heard a man echo her feelings and I sighed. Obviously, these people hated travelling salesmen. Fine enough. I dialed their number and instantly picked up. She was cool, calm and collected and more than thrilled when I told her I was outside. “Thank goodness!” She opened the door and saw me and then peered around me. I laughed it off and was like “Hi Mrs. Kinsey, it's me. Kira, the babysitter!” She was like.. “Uh.. oh... you're the babysitter, really?”
Uhhhh, yes really? I tried not to get discouraged, cause there entered the twins. They were cautious at first, but they noticed I had a Hello Kitty scarf and that prompted conversation. Soon, we were immersed in Camp Rock 2 and Jonas Brothers. Shortly after, Mr. Kinsey joined us outside and I shook his hand. After ten minutes of telling the girls about the fun we were gonna have, I felt pretty confident I was in. Your kids love me, and I'm not insane and you background checked me beforehand, what else do you need?
Instead, they smiled hesitantly and ushered their kids to them. Mrs. Kinsey smiled and nodded “We need to clean the house up real quick, tidy up. I didn't know you'd be so early. One moment.” She slammed the door.
And then I heard her lock the bottom lock.
Then the middle lock
And also a top lock.
I stood there, and the girls watched me from the window. I waved at them, and they made silly faces at me. Finally the father came outside and crushed some bills into my hand. “I'm sorry Kira, we're not going , here's your pay plus some... just.. go please. “ I looked down and saw 75$ and I was like “Wait, are you okay? Did I offend you?” And he's like “You just aren't, you just surprised us and all, and the Mrs. isn't the comfortable.” He went back inside and re-locked all the locks. The girls looked as confused as I did. I waved bye to them and their mother came and took them from the window.
I kinda stood there for awhile. I mean, I was pissed. Really pissed. I wanted to throw a rock through their ignorant racist windows and show them what they ASSUMED I would do. Instead I sat there and cried for a bit. I called a friend who is a electrician and he luckily was nearby enough to pick me up. He stopped and he saw how upset I was and he didn't say anything. We were about to drive off and he paused. “There's something up with this house.” He got out of his truck and looked at the side of the house. The box was sparking outside of the house and the lights around their house and inside appeared to be flickering. He quickly flipped the box open and examined some wires. He then knocked on the door and I sat in the truck. I was near livid at how warm and friendly they were to my white friend who was a stranger poking around their house. He told them that there were loose wires and they either would've lost electricity and/or started a fire. They were all a-gasp and were so grateful for his kind service. I lurked in the truck while he mentioned the services he could provide, but alas they had no money. Served them fucking right. The mother was so frightful and worried. My friend said he'd give them his card and he could come back later. I got out of the truck and gave my friend the money and said “Fix their shit you asshole.” And they looked so startled. “Kira, we sent you home, what are you still doing around our home?” I looked at them and calmly said “I walked 11 miles to your home with no car, and called a close friend of mine to pick you up, for some reason he decided to help you out and now I'm helping you out by paying for it.” Their look made me feel a little better, but they didn't say thank you or apologize. They still looked their door. My friend offered to give me my money back, but...

Sorry for the wall of text, I'm sitting in the ER and nothing else to do.
