It depends on the issue. My hubby can develop selective hearing or can brush them off faster than heck. It pisses me off and frustrates me sometimes, but have gotten used to after 16 years.

Of course my choices and opinion matters. Goodness, I couldn't imagine my family and partner just not caring. I'm sure there are somethings I'm more concerned or opinionated about than they are, but they always, always always care and value my opinions and wants, needs, etc. I don't think any of my loved ones shoot down any of my suggestions, but I am pretty independant and just do things my self without always consulting them..

With my family, it usually depends on the topic at hand. When it comes to food, my opinion matters. Anything else, I have mostly been brushed to the side.

I wish I could say the same and at one point in my life that was very much the case. Since having a family and be surrounded by my wife's family 24/7 my opinions tend to get thrown out rather quickly.

In the grand scale, I know that my opinions make very little difference, and I'm fine with that. On the other end of that scale, I am slightly uncomfortable when my girlfriend or boss or family solicits my perspective on things.
