So a couple weeks ago, I took an Introduction to Knitting class with a friend of mine and now I'm totally into it. I read this statistic claiming "The percentage of women under forty-five who knit or crochet has doubled since 1996". So, how about it, does anyone on here love to knit?
It helps pass the time when I can't exclusively focus on something - like being in a waiting room or on public transit when I have to be aware of what's going on. Several people get scarves from me that way (including a gentleman on the bus who asked for a scarf because my knitting reminded him of his mother).
I learned to knit many years ago when I was in girl scouts. I hated it then and said it was for old people. I picked it back up a few months ago and I love it now
Ayup! I taught myself how to knit almost 2 years ago. Picked it up real quickly...after whipping up a simple scarf to get the hang of the stitches, I knit a sweater with an intarsia skull on the front. I was pretty impressed with myself.

ive been knitting for about a year and im 24. i only like doing scarves and easy things that dont require focus and thought though
I love to knit, but I have not done it for a while. I have never committed myself to anything more than simple projects, but I want to knit a cardigan for myself eventually.

That's awesome. I'm on my first scarf now, hope I get that good that fast!
I learned how to knit when I was about 8 (I'm 21 now), but didn't make anything other than small squares until I was 13. Now I love making scarves and hats, but hardly ever wear them. I think almost everyone in my family has received the gift of a knitted hat at some point - this year even my sister's boyfriend is getting one for Christmas!

I love to knit. I prefer a loom though so you can do different things, and make different sizes. It is very fun, I am glad you enjoy it. Oh and I almost forgot I crochet too, that is also fun.Great to learn new patterns and make new things....easier to fix mistakes too.
OH GOD!!! I hate yarn! I utterly freaking hate the feel of it. hate even looking at it. If I touch it my whole body locks up. For Xmas last year my wife bought me a PS3, she wrapped it in a scarf, so when I reched inside to pull it out, I had a hand full of that shit! I don't know why, but I hate it with a passion!
Yesss. I taught myself to knit last year. I've actually not knitted in a while simply because I recently decided to teach myself to quilt, so I've been fiddling about with that. I tend to go through spurts of stuff. For a while, I'll sew, then I'll cross-stitch for a while, then I'll knit for a while, etc. I just absorb myself into one thing so much that I get burnt out and find something else to do for a while until I get burnt out on whatever the other thing is.
