I volunteer at the SAFE House, a local woman's shelter dealing with abuse and battery by a partner. I also volunteer at a suicide hotline, our local one two nights a week. I feel that since I have used these programs in the past, my experience and thankfulness for having them there to help me needs to be repaid. Also, my experience in the past has greatly helped me to be of service and help those who are now in a position I found myself in years ago.

Do you volunteer?
If you are not able to, what do you do to help the less fortunate and those who need help?
Do you prefer to keep it to one to one contact and help individuals?

Yes! Since working I can't volunteer a lot but I try to as much as possible. I think community and giving back is essential to maintain order and humility. Plus Ir's just good for everyone.


Go volunteer!

When i can't volunteer I usually donate at least a small amount of money, purple helped me when I needed it so I try to help others

I volunteer as much as time permits with my company. They have a ton of opportunities throughout the year.

I mostly volunteer with animals. I used to help at a homeless shelter, but, for medical reasons, I'm not allowed to be in that type of environment any longer. Mostly because of bacteria and viruses. Still upsets me that I have to stay away :-(

I did big brother, big sister for a while. Also volunteered at hospitals. Tutored kids. Currently I'm moving so I haven't volunteered of late. I might want to do something with youth when I'm settled.

I wish I could volunteer again. I used to volunteer in 2 hospitals, but as a single parent, there is no time. Now, the most I can do is drop a dollar into all of those clear fundraising boxes when I go out to grocery shop.
