Do you use your oven in the summer?

Contributor: bog bog
Whether cookies, roasted veggies, cakes, ribs, pasta bakes, casseroles, baked chicken, fresh bread, or frozen fish sticks, does the season affect how often you use your oven?

I rarely bake from April to September; it's just too darn hot!

I use my crockpot a little more, but if I need to bake something I try to bake multiple things I will need so I only need to heat the oven once.

We use it a lot less often and grill more if possible.

The house is always cold, so using the oven is fine. We cook just as often all year round.

I use the oven fairly often. This summer though, I made the mistake of baking a batch of homemade cookies on a day when it was 105. I thought I was going to die in my kitchen.

Less oven and more grill during the warmer months.

I know I should use it less in the summer, but I love baking. Usually I only refrain from using the oven if it's like 90+ degrees, which isn't too often here.

Yes, why not. I hate heat, so my aircon is always on on hot days.

I use it whenever I want to make something. It doesn't matter what time of year it is.

I bake and cook, all year long. We live in a hot climate, but there is something called air conditioning that seems to keep my kitchen frosty cold, even with the oven on. Amazing device, honestly.

No AC? In 2013? I didn't know you could find places without it??? No kidding. I thought it was pretty much like running water now.

I agree with the grill part, but we have bugs here...big, nasty, biting bugs....so grilling is not all that much fun. I still use my stove and oven mostly, unless we have people over for a cook out.

We live in an apartment and don't have a grill so we use the oven just as often in the summer.

I haven't had AC most of my adult life! My place now has central air, and it's like a whole new world, both in terms of my comfort and the bills. The first time I saw an August electricity bill, I was like

I use my oven just as often. Here in Florida AC is pretty much like running water just like Bignuf said.

I try to conserve AC use since I live alone & am on a tight budget, so I VERY rarely cook with the oven in the summer.

We mostly grill in the summer. Our house gets ridiculously hot even if it's not that hot outside. We're usually outside all day long anyways, so it makes sense for us to cook out there - and we LOVE BBQ anything, so I'd much rather grill all summer long than use my oven at all!

I dont often use the oven to begin with, but i dont seem to use the oven for cooking any more or less in the summer moths. Hopefully this year the summer will be spent grilling more though now that i have a grill.
