This is such a fun thread! I love hearing the reasons why everyone is using the avatar they're using.
Do you use a picture of yourself as your avatar?

You'd cause a whole lot of trouble with "that look" Tim

I've used a picture of some part of myself for a while now. I've had the black hi tops I wore at my wedding with the dress, I've had my thigh by a poolside, and this one is me in a delivery car last Halloween. I figure my real name gets used here, it's not hard to figure out it's me if you watch any of my videos, and if any of my family saw it, I'd just own up to it.

Mine is (as I have said before) a classic old school comic/graphic novel femme fatale of the 1940s and early 50s. Her name was P'Gell, and....well, you can Google her and see. Google "P'Gell Spirit" and see what you get. Will Eisner was the creator of these amazing characters.
I wanted to be her when I was a young girl, my father would jokingly refer to me as
P'Gell because of my....manner. I ended up looking a bit like her, although my waist is not nearly as slim (I swear, some of the drawings of her and that wasp waist, I don't know if she carried her uterus and intestines in a paper bag or what. They wouldn't have fit in her body. )
Jessica Rabbit was based on the original P'Gell.

Ummm, this is totally me!
And if you believe me and my votes... well, that's on you.

Thank you. I love old good quality graphic novel stuff. Will Eisner (the creator of "The Spirit" and this character, P'Gell) was believed to be the man who coined the term "Graphic Novel."

He tried the term "Sequential Art" first, but it didn't stick very well. Graphic Novel is great.

I'm a portrait and wedding photographer, and since my name is a little gender ambiguous, I have a self-portrait on my company site so people (especially my female and suicide girl models) know they are working with a woman. I use it here so people can put a face to a name and feel comfortable asking any and all questions!

As of yesterday, mine is me.
07/06/2011
Feel no need to put a picture of myself on this site.
07/06/2011
I'm too afraid of people recognizing me

Just an icon

I like red mushrooms...

(this is going to look silly months from now when I've gotten bored with this avatar and changed it.)

I wouldn't say "It's me, I'm proud of it"; but it's just me. That's all, just me.

I don't have a real picture of myself, since I really AM an Avatar. In fact, I was cooked up by Pixar, and escaped, only to find myself living here....among the electrons and pixels of the wonderful and loving EF home screen. It makes me so happy all of you come over to visit on occasion

It's just my cat.
It's not really for privacy - I mean, if you know me and have me on G+ or Tumblr, you've seen my cat and would know who I am.
I guess I don't think I'm all that interesting enough to be an avatar. I'd have to take some decent pictures. I have good pictures of me in costume, but that would be kind of weird.

It's me. I like when people use a unique avatar (themselves or something their own). It gets hard to differentiate when they all look the same.
12/16/2011
Currently it is a picture of me. I am hidden behind the glasses.
12/16/2011
I don't have my picture up, but I need to find something to differentiate myself.
12/16/2011
I have a stock photo on mine now. But I have a picture of my username that I can add. Just been lazy with all the holiday stuff going on.
12/16/2011
Addendum: Just for the holidays I have another photoshoot picture with a 'Naughty' Santa hat and a big candy cane. It'll go back to the black-and-white one after the New Year.
12/16/2011
yep, i'm the real twilight sparkle.
12/16/2011
Yep, it's a pic of myself.

its just my cat and I might put a pic of me on there in the future..don't know what I will be wearing or anything but maybe I won't.
12/16/2011
No, I will not show my photo. Also, I don't like to use another person's photo for my avatar. I just use a general icon to represent the beauty of woman.
12/16/2011
I just chose something fun. No real meaning or significance.
