do you use a a/c?

Contributor: married with children married with children
Tonight I had to turn on my A/C for the first time this summer. It is muggy, with no wind. I just open the windows at nigh to cool down the house, but without the wind the house is too muggy to sleep. So I had to turn on the a/c. How many of you use a a/c? When did you turn it on for the first time this summer? My neighbor has had hers running since april. It is going now, and they are gone for 2 weeks.

I have had ours on for two months. Not happy with my electric bill, can't wait till I can take them out of the window. Then I probably complain about the heating bill, go figure.

if its not one, its the other. right? I only put in the central a/c unit because the wife was pregnant during the summer. It was used alot then, but only a few days a summer after that.

I've had mine on since May. It has been an extremely hot and muggy summer here. You can cut the humidity with a knife. During the winter I barely use heat since I stay hot. Be glad when it gets here so my utilities will go down.

I use a reverse cycle a/c in winter and summer

We've had ours on a lot this summer. The last few summers have been cooler and less humid and we didn't run it much at all. Our house stays pretty cool during the day, but heats up like crazy during the evening, especially if the wind dies down. There was a nice northerly breeze yesterday, so we shut the air off. Here's to hoping it stays cooler, at least for a little while! I feel so cooped up when the air is on for long periods of time.

We put ours on when we have guests coming over and a few hours before bedtime to cool down the upstairs. It can be miserable at times, but fans help a lot.

We had ours on during that last heat wave. For the most part it stays off unless it's going to be in the upper 90's or higher for more than a few days.

I live in southern Louisiana, ours is on a lot lol. But we try to run the ceiling fans as much as possible and just turn the a/c on a little while each day when we get home from work.

Nope! We don't even have one. Well, except in our cars. We live in Alaska.

A/C goes on here usually in very early July. Or basically anytime it goes above 85. I can't tolerate the heat!

Usually turn it on in June, turn it off if the weather is being weird and goes below 70 degrees. Summer's usually in the 90s for us, and it's just too hot without. It runs till maybe September?

I love my A/C! I grew up without AC and it was not pleasant in humid Chicago without one. Now, as an adult with migraines and peri-menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes, it makes life more pleasant. Even the window units we had in our first house made pregnancy more comfortable. (Being pregnant is like burning a 100 watt lightbulb in your body 24 hours a day.)

I can not sleep if I am too warm. And I get headaches from the heat.

I'm glad to have it, although My Man hates it.

A/C is a must for me also, especially with the excruciatingly hot summer we've had this year. It's been running all Summer, it has been really bad here. I get ill if I get overheated, it aggravates some health issues I have.

We use a/c sometimes although it hasn't been as hot in Vancouver as other years. It's good to have though on a hot day.

Yes we use one. Our apartment is deathly hot during the summer without it

We have window units. I think we started using them around May/June this year and will probably use them into September.

Central air and heating is very necessary here. We'd swelter to death without it.

The AC stays on or wed die. We used to have our bed in the front room next to the ac but we figured out how to set up a series of fans to circulate the air better.

ours has been on all summer, we would've died without it! when it gets up in the 100's no way I'm going without the ac!

i can get away with no a/c now because the nights get cool and keep the house nice till noon. i'm way too broke to pay for a high electric bill so i keep it off as much as possible

Well, considering we live in Mesa Arizona, we have had ours on since about April. Right now it is 117 degrees and without an a/c, people die around here. Luckily, we don't have to pay for electricity here!

I don't use one at home. It's unnecessary. We use one all year round at work though, in order to keep the air at a specific temperature (69 degrees F) for working with chocolate.

I don't. It's creeping toward 90 degrees. -.-
