I absolutely do not tan. I actually cover up and/or wear sunscreen every day, all year. Tanning is just a bad idea in my opinion - it ages the skin and makes you wrinkle faster, and too much exposure can lead to cancer. No thanks.

No, I just burn. I'm not against looking tan, but since I have to burn first I tend not to bother trying to get tan. But like really excessively tan people are not attractive to me, and regularly tanning seems like as bad a habit as smoking in my opinion.

I'll lay out in the yard in summer time. The sun is a loving and nurturing life giver and getting some rays is healthy. I don't lay out between 12 and 3 and I don't let myself burn. I will not go sit in a cancer box though. Sun Screen has actually recently been linked to skin cancer.

I've had skin cancer, even though I've never tanned. Tanning is way too dangerous. Especially fake tanning. I just don't understand it; how is damaged skin "sexy?"
02/19/2013
Nope, not at all.

I don't get very dark but I am not value pale anymore. I always use sunscreen and don't stay put for long. So I guess I really don't go tanning that much

I don't tan...I turn into a boiled lobster. xD
I prefer my skin to stay pale actually, but if I ever wanted a tan I'd just go get a spray tan or use one of those gradual self tanning lotions.
No melanoma causing sun (at least without massive quantities of sunblock) or freaky tanning beds for me thanks. =^.^=

I used to lay out in summertime but I've since embraced my milky white skin. I now wear sunscreen every day and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

I use to, not anymore.

I don't tan. It's never really been my thing, and I'm sorta-kinda allergic to the sun.

I'm black. I have no need to tan.

No I burn and hate to lay in the sun especially since my complexion is so pale.
I have in the past before a cruise gone to a tanning salon a month in advance especially to tropical locations so I wouldn't burn as badly and to look nice. I went to a salon with the stand up booth's, you know the kind that have straps so you can slips your hands into and tan evenly. It also felt very sexy and I hate laying on a bed where others have.
The only time I ever sun bathed was in Hawaii, for some reason the sun didn't feel so hot or maybe it was the humidity wasn't as high but that was one place I didn't mind being at the beach or by a pool and just lay soaking up the rays.

UVA & UVB rays have been proven to cause skin aging & cancer, but the chemical sunscreens have only been linked to cancer. Hmm, proven versus, linked. But as I explain in the following, it's only the chemical sunscreens that are linked to cancer, so that's no reason not the use the physical sunscreens! Here's the difference:

It's the chemical sunscreens that are linked to problems & IMO have always been a dumb idea. They have to be absorbed into the skin to work which is why you have to wait 30 minutes before going into the sun after application. (Anything you apply to your skin is absorbed to some degree because your skin acts like a filter, so be careful what you put on it!) Anyway, chemical sunscreens work by absorbing the UV rays & converting them into a safer wavelength. However, they let some radiation penetrate the skin & they deteriorate rapidly when exposed to light. Some don't even protect against UVA, just the UVB rays! UVA are responsible for skin aging & skin cancer, UVB are the burning rays.
The physical sun screens, (sometimes called blocks, but the FDA doesn't want that term used anymore, they feel it's misleading), prevent the rays from reaching your skin by either reflecting them or absorbing the rays, altering them & releasing them after changing their structure. With the development of nanotechnology, these fairly benign ingredients, such as zinc oxide & titanium dioxide, can be applied without leaving behind the tell tale white coating they previously caused. (I'm not going to get into the possible problems with nano particles.)

You still need to protect your skin! Your higher melanin levels offer more protection than those with lower levels, but you aren't fully protected, no matter how dark you may be. Please, be careful.

I do little cousin lol.. when ever I get the chance. I wish there were enough hours in the day that I could fit it in way more often.
02/19/2013
I only tan when I'm working in the yard or if I go swimming.
02/19/2013
Outside sometimes, but not like I used to
02/19/2013
Nope. In the summer I'll lay out, though.
02/19/2013
Yes, I have own tanning bed at home. I know it's not good for you but I do it anyway.
02/19/2013

I do tan at a salon, I do avoid high pressure beds which have more damaging UVA rays, and I'm crazy about my antioxidants. I am trying to cut back, but at least I don't burn in the sun outdoors if I forget sunscreen. I do still protect myself from the sun when I go out by wearing a UVA/UVB sunscreen.
02/19/2013
I'm far, FAR too irish to tan. No one in my family does anything but burn.
