Do you still have your wisdom teeth?

Contributor: Ms. N Ms. N
Two taken out, separately, as an adult(++++). The one on top was a breeze, but my jaw was sore for weeks with the bottom one.

Get around to it before they start causing problems. You'll minimize the potential damage that way.

All four of mine were growing in impacted, so they came out when I was around 16 or 17. Thankfully they hadn't developed all the way and didn't even have roots yet, so things went pretty smoothly. Recovery was a little tough, though. Minimal bruising on my cheeks and no dry socket, but I couldn't open my mouth very wide without causing pain, and I had a painful few days once my pills were used up.

I've also had eight baby teeth pulled because my adult teeth were coming in too fast, and four adult teeth so that the rest could shift into place when I got my braces. I'm hoping I never have to get rid of any more.

I had all 4 out at the same time. We tried a few different pain meds and they all made me very nauseas, I couldn't keep anything down, so by day two, I gave up on pain meds and was eating tacos. :/

I still have mine, but I'm going to get them taken out in about half a year. The recovery process I'm not too worried about, but thinking about the actual extraction really freaks me out.

Were you guys just given shots or were you completely knocked out?

I voted "What are wisdom teeth?" even though I know what they are because I have never had wisdom teeth. I'm going to be 22 in a few days and I've never had them. Let's hope it stays that way.

Had one pulled. Have one that's never punched through.

I only had one on each side down the bottom come up and even then they has to come up on an angle cause my mouth is smaller. They didn't start to come through until my early 20's and then went up and down for a few years before staying for good.

They don't bother me at all so I've kept mine.

I got them all out when I was a teen.

I was in my late 20's, when they erupted it was the most excruciating pain I've ever felt in my head.

I actually still have all four of mine. It was horribly painful when they came in, since it was in stages. I haven't been to the dentist in a ...few... years, so I don't know their opinion on them, but they haven't altered my eating or extensive orthodontic work.

But the one time I have ever *literally* hallucinated from pain was when two were working in at the same time.

you didn't make an option for having all of them....tho I should get the top ones out.

I had all four of them removed at the same time. I believe 2 were where they were supposed to be, and 2 were growing-in sideways. My teachers (and partner) had to nag me constantly to not talk, because it might pull my stitches. I looked like a cabbage patch kid that had been in a bar fight!

Mine haven't come in yet, I am not looking forward to it.
A few of my family members never got theirs, so I am hoping that happens to me ;__;

I've had all mine taken out. I hated the recovery process, I HATED some of the foods I ate then afterwards for a while because I ate them all the time while I healed.

Also the bleeding? Suckage.

I was knocked out, but you can actually do either. I just couldn't bear to be awake for something like that.

Thanks for responding. Ever since that episode of Niptuck where the lady was still conscious and feeling during her surgery, I've been terrified of any kind of operation.

I've never watched Niptuck, but it sounds like you're talking about anesthesia awareness. For that to happen is actually exceedingly rare (occurring in less than 1% of patients), so I didn't really worry about it.

I had the bottom two pulled, not because they were causing problems just by being there... but because they had terrible cavities
