I love my cartoons still to this day. And see no reason to stop loving them soon. but am I the only adult who likes cartoons more than "big Boy Movies" with gore and such?

I keep the TV on cartoons a lot because those are the only shows I can guarantee are safe and that way I don't have to peek around the corner every second to be sure nothing too obscene is showing. I like cartoons a little, but my preference when I'm actually watching TV is lifetime shows like Grey's Anatomy. Usually the ones with little obscenity, nudity, cursing. I don't want to be a bad role model for the kids and I like to keep it clean.

I'm not a big fan of cartoons. I sometimes catching myself snickering at some double entendre on SpongeBob, to which my 11 year old is usually clueless. But, I don't ever watch them by myself, preferring science shows, oddities, indie films and things like that.

I do, however, prefer most cartoons over romantic comedies.

Do anime movies count as cartoons? Plenty of them are R-rated and full of gore. Happy Tree Friends is most definitely a cartoon and is still full of gore.

I've found that I rather like American Dad! and have taken to watching that occasionally.

Used to really enjoy them, especially the really silly stuff like Fairly Odd Parents, but I'd drifted from them. Hell, I don't even watch movies much anymore; it's either a few shows in Discovery channel, or the Food Network.

I have to admit I was quite pleasantly suprised when the new Hub channel started and I saw they were showing Transformers and GI Joe...now if they only had Thundercats and He-Man, that would pretty much sum up after school television for my entire childhood. I still watch a lot of other cartoons like Batman and Star Wars the Clone Wars. I am just a big kid at heart.

It depends on the cartoon vs the movie, but animated films can sometimes trump movies in terms of their expression and ability to convey a certain feeling.
I still watch The Simpsons. Other TV cartoons I watch tend to be international though.

I am always surprised when people say they don't watch cartoons because it's childish. Sure, the storylines are simple, but I see nothing wrong with that sort of thing. Really, a lot of blowy uppy movies have simple storylines too. Speaking of which, there are also adult friendly cartoons. I've not seen this one, but I've a lot of adult friends who enjoy Avatar: The Last Airbender.

As I like to say, animation is a medium, not a genre. Just as live action shows come in all forms, so do cartoons, especially if you broaden the net and look at cartoons from different countries (one of my favorite cartoon movies happens to be from Germany). There's animated shows and movies that are primarily for children, some that are cool no matter what age you are, and some that definitely aren't intended for children (I wouldn't show a kid Death Note, for example, not only because it's dark but because the plot can be confusing).

"Anime" is the Japanese term for cartoons regardless of where they came from (Daffy Duck shorts are anime to speakers of Japanese), so I certainly don't differentiate.

Heh-heh. Rewatching the entire series of 'The Real Ghostbusters' right now.

Yeah, I like animated stuff ... haven't seen anything recent, though. Anime like 'The Big O' and 'Gunsmith Cats', more adult stuff like 'Wizards' and 'Heavy Metal', borderline stuff like 'The Last Unicorn' and 'Rocky and Bullwinkle' ... and stuff from my teens that I'd watch with my younger brother because the plots were still awesome, like 'Tale Spin' and 'Tiny Toons'. Of course there were the Disney movies, and Warner Bros. classics will always be my first love.

"Big boy movies"? What are those? *smirk* Beat people up and make explosions? I watched 'He-Man' for that sort of thing.

I am an anime fan. I also like watching classic episodes of the Simpsons. Sometimes, I watch South Park. Everyone once in a while, I'll see a Disney or Pixar movie. The last one I watched was Ratatouille.

i love cartoons, whether it's the more adult, such as flcl and big O, the childish like spongebob and MLP:FIM or the deceptively adult, like Dan VS, cartoons are awesome. i just wish they weren't stigmatized as child's fare. really, how is spongebob any worse than dancing with the stars, or the apprentice?

Do you love Cartoons more than "big boy movies"?

I love anything animated! My guy and I are nuts about it. I love anime, claymation, puppets (Fraggle Rock), some 3D (Pixar)... I don't like the majority of cartoons that have come out in the last 10-15 years. I think they've really been dumbed down. It just makes me sad to see soulless cartoons like Spongebob and those slapped together Disney sequels/prequels/midqu els.

Jeez... That made me sound old! lol

yes and no!!I have a 2yr.old and watch alot of educational,young cartoons that I get very sick of!I can sing every Dora, Go Diego Go, bubbleguppies song .lol.But there is some I luv...one of my fave. movies is a cartoon!The Bee movie!

While I still love the Disney movies I watched as a kid, and lots of the shows I watched as a kid, I can't really say I like many newer cartoons. My ex watched cartoon network all day long and I couldn't stand it! I greatly prefer shows like House, Law and Order SVU or CI, CSI, or science and history documentaries.i do agree with p'gell that I would prefer animated movies to most romantic comedies, though. Ugh...

I sometimes watch the ones I liked as a kid for old times sake, I've watched a lot of cartoons recently via netflix as just something going on in the background, while I am on the computer or in and out of the room.

Usually I watch ones that I loved as a kid but once in a while some of the newer cartoons will actually be good and impress me enough to watch some.

I totally watch cartoons. I like my big boy movies too but I will watch a disney movie or "anime" in a heartbeat. Can't watch spongebob though. That show just freaks me out.

Cartoons are so awesome. I love watching a lot of the same shows my young son does: Spongebob is a good example of this.

I do also watch animated series that aren't necessarily for children, including a lot of anime aimed at teens or adults. I think part of what's nice about animated things for me is that animation makes suspension of disbelief easier for me. I know fewer voice actors by name than I do live-action actors, so I'm less likely to be distracted by them.

Cartoons are awesome. I love the classic cartoons like Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, and Tom & Jerry. Modern cartoons just aren't as good. Anime is also awesome.

Both are great, and some of the cartooons get better when you can understand all of the hidden adult jokes. Anime can be just as great
